25.01.2022 Happy Educators Day The passion , the strive , the beautiful smiles, the love and the fun are just some of the words to describe the Happy Feet team. We would like to thank these amazing educators for the daily inspiration they bring on a daily basis. The love and the care, the energy and the hard work they bring to support all the families and the children is absolutely amazing .... An educator takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart

25.01.2022 OPEN-ENDED TOYS - Open-ended toys result in open-ended play. This type of play can evolve over time while also encouraging children to create and problem-solve as they explore the world around them. Our little friend here is first using the blocks for her construction play with her peer and after a while she decided the block was a phone. She spent a considerable time engaging with the blocks and creating many scenarios during her play. I just love it! -... @ Happy Feet Child Care Centre See more

23.01.2022 I did some editing, with help from Phee Kear, who was amazing enough to offer help with spelling and grammar. Thank you everyone who pointed out those mistakes.... This book was made for fun and to help me get out of art stagnation, so I never had it professionally edited. As I'm not a native English speaker and dyslectic on top of that, I'm surprised there was only so few. I'm really amazed and overwhelmed with response this book got. I had messages from people in Australia,Japan, and USA. I'm really happy that so many of you found this cheering and uplifting- that's why I made it in the first place. As you know, FTLDM is not printed, but there is a chance of it, as so many people like it. If you would like to see it in print, please share it with your friends and family (your enemies too, and your boss)! The more people will see it the bigger chance we have! And if it'll get published, I already have some ideas what to add to it to make it even better! Thank you all, it's so special to see that you like my work. You are amazing, stay strong! you can support me on https://ko-fi.com/martiwm

22.01.2022 Seasonal Craft - As our beautiful native trees move into winter we are able to collect some wonderful materials for seasonal craft such as gumnuts, leaves and sticks. We added these materials to clay to create some sculptures. Lots of different techniques were used such as poking the materials into the clay, scratching the clay with the materials and wrapping the clay in leaves. One of the children told us that he remembered lots of bushfires and used this theme in creatin...g his work. What wonderful artworks! - @ Happy Feet Child Care Centre See more

21.01.2022 FLAGS- As part of our Multicultural Week, our little friends had the opportunity to learn more about the flags around the world and they drew their own representation of flags from their backgrounds. We printed and named the flags then the children matched the crayons with the colours on the flags. -

21.01.2022 The caterpillars went out for a lovely stroll this morning in the community with Miss Maz and Miss Natski. We have been learning about road safety and what a perfect way to teach them about the different road signs and discuss what we do on the crossing and making sure we always hold hands at all times. What a beautiful morning we had. #happyfeetchildcare

21.01.2022 Last week we had the pleasure of meeting Rheanna from Ngandabaa Art. Rhe will be our artist in Residence for the next 8 weeks. She spent the first visit exposing the children to Aboriginal Symbols where they all had the opportunity to recreate the symbols independently. We are very excited to begin this collaboration with Rhe.

20.01.2022 OUR PETS - The Preschoolers are all so excited to talk about their pets from home. By taking turns, theyre invited to go in front of their peers and tell them about the special pet friend. Its beautiful to see how they confidently and enthusiastically have amazing things to say.... Some of the children start a bit shy but become more confident along the way. - @ Happy Feet Child Care Centre See more

19.01.2022 GRATITUDE - Its so beautiful to see the children developing the sense of gratitude. Today we had 3 beautiful gestures that we need to share and spread this delightful feeling. A flower, a drawing and a box of chocolates, different things that can bring joy to our day. Sometimes a simple gesture like a smile or a cuddle will be enough to change the whole day and the impact of that might change the whole world, or at least someones world. Believe!... - @ Happy Feet Child Care Centre See more

19.01.2022 Lunchtime blessings - Our meals are always full of learning. We sit still, we sing together and we wait. Miss Livia will ask one of us to help with the food and at the end everyone will say goodbye to the Fire Fairies as theyll go back to the Sun.... - See more

18.01.2022 SELF SERVICE - Today we set up our afternoon tea a little bit different. With a Self Service station the children could help themselves with the fruit at their choices, practicing their fine motor skills, taking turns, patience and more. Children have a drive to be independent and do things on their own. This is a healthy part of normal child development. As children grow, they learn to do more and more tasks.... They learn through imitation and its the carers job to help young children become independent by allowing and encouraging them to take responsibility for themselves whenever possible. It can be faster and less messy to do things for children, but they learn so much from doing things for themselves. When children practice self-help skills such as feeding and dressing themselves, they practice their large and small motor skills, gain confidence in their ability to try new things and build their self-esteem and pride in their independence. Promoting self help skills with children cant be a challenge but not at Happy Feet - @ Happy Feet Child Care Centre

18.01.2022 SCHOOL READINESS - Who said that school readiness activities need to be so serious? Today we had this 2 examples of how a little bit of creativity can make everything more fun. The children engaged quite a while with number game threading, where they need to follow the numbers order but also be aware of the length of the string. They had conversations about which colour were each number, how long they needed the string, etc.... Another activity was fishing the letters with magnetic parts where they need to find the letter the educator asked and try to fish with a magnet. And the best part: everything made by recycled materials! Amazing! - @ Happy Feet Child Care Centre See more

16.01.2022 Today we had a conversation about emergency procedures around fire. We discussed how we should stay away from the fire and get out as quick as we can with adult supervision. We also talk about how some things can be hot withfire and we need to be very careful. Some children said that we need to leave the house if theres a uncontrollable fire and one friend said we need to call triple 0. How clever! And another friend said we cant be silly near the stove

12.01.2022 Giant Box - Who needs toys when you have a giant box?! This is a very good example of how recycled and open ended materials are the best for childrens development. Open-ended toys result in open-ended play, which can evolve over time while also encouraging children to create and problem-solve as they explore the world around them. Open-ended play with peers encourages social development and social interaction while also developing cognitive skills.... A special thank you to one of our parents who donated to us. - @ Happy Feet Child Care Centre See more

09.01.2022 SCIENCE WEEK - What a fun and cool week weve had! Established in 1997, National Science Week provides an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of Australian scientists to the world of knowledge. It also aims to encourage an interest in science pursuits and to encourage young children to be fascinated by the world we live in.... 09.01.2022 CLAY - Handwork is an essential element for the harmonious development of the children. Such work challenges them to grow in direct and powerful ways. Rudolf Steiner was very particular about this. He saw the danger of the modern student losing the skill and confidence of making something with their own hands and he observed in traditional cultures a vital ingredient for a healthy education. Through handwork the child’s thinking, feeling and will develop in a healthy way. -

Its one aspect of diversity, which also embraces differences in gender, disabilities, age, social, and economic backgrounds. - @ Happy Feet Child Care Centre

04.01.2022 - 4th August NATIONAL ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER CHILDRENS DAY - Childrens Day was first held 30 years ago in 1988. Part of the reason it was started was because there were many Aboriginal children in orphanages and institutions who did not know their birthday, so Childrens Day was set aside each year to celebrate the birthday of these children. The day was also needed to give Aboriginal children confidence and make them feel special and included. Children's ...Day 2020 theme: 'We are the Elders of tomorrow, hear our voice' honours our Elders custodians of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditional knowledge, passed down to our children through stories and cultural practice. Hearing childrens voices today plays a crucial role in them becoming influential Elders and leaders of the future. At Happy Feet we acknowledge and celebrate all the children of this land by participating in activities and creating opportunities for open discussions about Australian Culture. The Caterpillars used wool and stick to weave and thread, and the Butterflies created their families trees. They also made a delicious damper for our afternoon tea. - Happy National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day @ Happy Feet Child Care Centre See more
