24.01.2022 Would you know what to do if you found a lost dog?

24.01.2022 Here are the most common reasons I hear about why people don't put their dogs on a long line when training, and here are some things to think about: 'My dog des...erves to have off lead freedom!' - Absolutely! But it depends on where. No dog 'deserves' anything, apart from their welfare taken care of. If your dog is bombing off after other dogs, people, cyclists etc and causing distress that isn't ethical or fair, and it's going to take much longer to actually fix their recall and disengagement. 'Other people have their dogs off lead, why can't I?' - For a few reasons. The first is that, right now, their dogs are doing well off lead, they can be trusted. And if they can't, they shouldn't be off lead anyway! 'My dog doesn't need any training, he's only a puppy!' - I'm learning to drive at the minute. It would be irresponsible for my teachers, caregivers etc to allow me free reign in a car to drive on the road. I don't know all the rules, I don't know the etiquette, and I could end up hurting me or someone else in the environment. If your puppy runs over and jumps at a child, or runs over to a dog on lead and the dog's have a fight, you're the reason the fight occurred. 'But other people shouldn't walk their dogs/walk in public places if they don't like dogs!' - This is silly. People and their dogs have a right to walk in the same spaces you do. What matters if how we conduct ourselves overall, and if we are unable to conduct ourselves, how we manage and work on it. No dog should be running up and pestering people, or running up and bothering on lead dogs. 'I'm not hurting anyone!' - In the eyes of the law, a Dangerous Dog is a dog who is 'out of control'. If your dog runs and jumps up at me, I can call the dog warden. A ridiculous rule? Debatable. But in the eyes of the law you are not protected. Your dog is your responsibility, and you are their advocate. There is no shame in working consistently on your dogs recall until it is 95% reliable. And if a mistake happens, don't stress about it! But we always need to remember we cannot control the people around us, just how we conduct ourselves.

02.01.2022 This really breaks my heart. Can't believe this is still legal and happening across NSW. Please don't buy a puppy from a pet shop, gum tree/online or backyard breeders. Buy them from a reputable breeder. Get to know their mom and dad. Puppy farm kept happening because consumer simply can't turn our eyes when we see cute puppy behind the glass door.... Little did we know that their mum or dad has never seen the light of day or feel the grass. Please educate yourself. See more
