25.01.2022 SENSORY Foil Painting One of our favorite art activities is painting on foil, we haven’t done this for ages so today is the perfect day! The surface is slick so the paint dances across it, reflecting the light. As the kids were painting I asked them what the painting sounded like. Sasha told me at sounded crinkly and Willow told me it sounded crunchy. Finn said the paint was sliding !! This activity certainly gets kids to think as they have to put the same paintbrush bac...k into the same colour. Stop and look and think ! Well done kids See more

24.01.2022 The children had lots of fun in the water today filling measuring jugs, sliding into pool, catching bubbles and making a fountain . Developing their gross and fine motor skills, and hand eye coordination .

24.01.2022 PRACTICAL COOKING Today our kids are learning how to make their own organic peanut butter sandwiches. When kids learn to prepare food, they learn more than how to make a healthy meal. Their confidence grows, as they learn to prepare different things. It gives them a sense of independence.... It teaches them to make healthy choices within certain parameters. It reinforces the source of their food, and that it doesn’t have to come from a box. See more

24.01.2022 FLASHCARDS Flashcards are a lot of fun at Happy Home and so beneficial for your little one. We have been working on our numbers and number recognition and today we will be adding basic shapes to these activities.... Improve cognitive development. Increase awareness of the world around them. Improve fine motor skills. Stimulate thinking for themselves. Increase confidence.

23.01.2022 LISTENING - SENSORY As our children are exploring this morning with the new sensory boxes..... in the background we are listening to tractor sounds. The boys are playing so well with the new tractors and farm animals and the kids are really enjoying the sounds of a big farm tractor in the background

23.01.2022 Flowers invigorate the senses by adding beauty, color, and wonderful smells to our lives. They can also brighten up a room or mood in an instant. Young kids learn best through hands-on exploration of the world around them and today the kids are Painting with Flowers. There are so many benefits to this activity.. Fine motor skill development. Sensory building. Colour recognition.... Numeracy (we lined up the flowers and counted them out together) Nurturing creativity. Building self-esteem. Creating childhood memories. See more

23.01.2022 We are all very excited........ today, after we spend some time painting Christmas plaster - making Christmas cards - Christmas dressing up - water play.... singing Christmas Carols THEN our real Christmas Tree arrives - yaeeeeeee

22.01.2022 The children have been doing christmas theme today they used the playdough to make gingerbread men.

21.01.2022 PAINTING Today we painted with water on our blackboard . Painting with water is one of those activities that kids absolutely love and can spend hours doing over and over again. It helps build their creativity and confidence to experiment and develop early writing .

20.01.2022 MATH and LANGUAGE - SPACIAL AWARENESS Spatial Awareness - Today we are using a big love heart and some stones to talk about inside and outside. Spatial awareness, also known as geometry, includes knowing about shapes, space, positions, directions and movement. All kids need opportunities to play with blocks and puzzles. To help teach the concept of spatial awareness with young children, at Happy Home we use puzzle and block play vocabulary as your child plays: above, below, in front of, next to, rectangle (all shapes), rhombus, edge, corner, face and side. The block that is red is above the block that is blue.

20.01.2022 UNDERSTANDING COLOR Colour, it’s one of the most noticeable attributes of the world around us. For babies and small children, understanding colour is an essential building block they will use for learning in all areas of their life. How gorgeous little forest is two years of age and is non-verbal. The activity that I have set up for forest today is to see where his awareness is of colour is he able to follow instructions by choosing a specific colour.

20.01.2022 TEXTURED PAINTING - INDEPENDANT CHOICE Spring is in the air at Happy Home and today the kids will be exploring with textured painting using the most beautiful fresh spring roses.... Children learn through exploration, play, and open-ended activities. Process art fits in with how kids learn because it allows them to freely make choices without worrying about the end result. Children make their own decisions and just create! It can occupy some kids endlessly, while others will ...shrug and walk away. That is OK! Allowing independent choice is the key; the benefits are amazing. Little ones who are involved in process art have better self-regulation skills, higher self-esteem from doing it all by themselves, and they find a way to express themselves even if they don’t quite have the words. It also involves planning (where will I put this orange paint?), problem-solving (I dripped over that part, so how do I fix it?), and comparison (I like it better now that I added orange paint to it.) Process art is also absolutely just FUN!

19.01.2022 The children worked on some christmas craft Being very creative. Developing their fine motor skills, hand eye coordination, building manual levels of deterity, learning about colours shapes and textures.

19.01.2022 LOVE IS LOVE Welcoming four-legged friends into daycare is a growing trend across the country. And research shows that therapy-dog programs provide significant benefits for students. Not that our Tank is a trained therapy dog ....if he was any more relaxed he’d be going backwards! However tank certainly does have a very calming affect on our kids. Love is Love!!

19.01.2022 What a fun way to start a Friday!!!! HAPPPPPPPPY BIRTHDAYYYYY Miss Sasha we hope your fourth birthday is amazing and we love you so much

18.01.2022 MUSIC AND MOVEMENT Today will be loud and a lot of fun. My kids love music day. It helps the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words. Dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression. For children and adults, music helps strengthen memory skills.

18.01.2022 SCIENCE This particular science activity is lots of fun and a great introduction to those kids who haven’t had much experience in observing chemical reactions... The fat and proteins are super sensitive to changes in the milk and so when the dishwashing liquid is added a chemical reaction occurs. The soap and fat work hard to join together, which causes the movement. When food colouring is added we are able to witness this chemical reaction... each child was asked to choose a colour and with the eyedropper got to pop their colours into the milk from there everybody was given a cotton bud dipped in dishwashing liquid and let the experiment begin!!!! Add a guess I’d say our Sasha has done this experiment before but for the other three they were very blow away with the changing and mixing of the colours!

18.01.2022 Well done kids!!

18.01.2022 SENSORY BOXS & LANGUAGE This week we have two very different sensory boxes. To celebrate Willow and And Sasha‘s birthdays we have created an ice cream stand. 17.01.2022 Story Time Today....... Santa visits Australia and Dear Santa....

17.01.2022 LANGUAGE - SPACIAL AWARENESS Today we are practicing our tracing. Tracing can help kids develop fine motor skills, which can aid them with other tasks, such as learning to write. It also helps little ones with developmental disabilities to develop math and language skills. Other benefits of tracing include improvement in hand/eye coordination, dexterity and spatial awareness. Preschool children can trace to practice the skills they need to write, including learning how to hold a crayon or pencil. Tracing curved and straight lines, circles and other shapes refines hand muscles and coordination, which makes it easier for them to transition to writing. Tracing a dot-to-dot puzzle requires children to use fine motor skills and also encourages them to practice counting.

17.01.2022 Wishing you a very Happy 4th Birthday today gorgeous Sasha ......

16.01.2022 Today the girls decided it was Christmas day and dressed up for the occasion Dress ups can engage the child's brain and memory builds on language, initiation and motor skills.

16.01.2022 Playing with a variety of building and creative products helps children build self-confidence and encourages their independent learning too. By allowing children freedom in construction play it also makes them think independently and make decisions based on what they are learning.

Pasting helps to develop fine motors skills in young children, which in turn helps them to be writing-ready as they near school age. 13.01.2022 STARY PEPPERMINT SLIME Playing with slime is a sensory play activity. Sensory play allows kids to utilize and understand all five senses. When several senses are stimulated at once, children build their creativity and learning through exploration. Sensory play also encourages the development of fine motor skills and coordination and sticky fun!

13.01.2022 A water play kind of day - We enjoyed a fun filled morning of mostly outdoor adventures. The paddling pool was set up to keep us active and cool. We applied our sunscreen all over, and we waited patiently for it to dry before stepping into the water. There was lots of splashing and sliding taking place within the pool, we also included some imaginative play too let’s pretend the ring is a boat said Sasha excitedly. Water trays - Another cool and fun option for the childre...n. Both trays were filled with slippery bubbles and accessories for pouring and squirting. Parker was particularly keen on transferring water from one tray to the next. Later in the morning we requested some cloths for cleaning, it was great to see our friends pitching in. Other morning adventures; Water painting with large ice cubes - we applied the melting ice to our paper and observed and identified the different colours. Dry ice experiment - We ran some warm tap water over the block of dry ice. We watched excitedly as a thick fog emerged from the laundry sink. Willow thought it looked like smoke Musical instruments - these were left out for us to use at our own leisure. Zach also had a keyboard that he had brought in from home, everyone was keen to have a turn and Zach was happy to share. Well done Zach!! We finished up our morning with some stories on the book mat.....

13.01.2022 This weeks sensory trays..... Often the idea for our sensory play comes from the children’s interests and recent experiences or through a topic/theme we are following. One thing I have learnt in the time we have been including a sensory tuff tray experience into our day is that they very rarely go as you envisage in your head. The key is not to have ANY expectations from the activity and therefore anything which is achieved is a bonus. ... The kids are allowed to take their play experience in their own hands - this is where the learning really happens. I like to set up the trays to look inviting to draw the kids in to explore and investigate. This fortnight we have two different tough trays ......one is set on the farm and includes tractors and farm animals set on a bed of yellow lentils. The second is an ice cream shop where I have made beautiful multicoloured rice and popped in waffle cones giant pom-poms and funnels so the kids can create their ice cream stand.

11.01.2022 Ahhhhh everyone is tired at the end of the year!!!!!

10.01.2022 Nuts and bolt for kids is a great activity to develop fine motor skills. Kids grasp the nuts and bolts and must use eye hand coordination to place a nut onto the bolt. They need to practice a twisting movement to rotate the nut onto the bolt. This helps to increase strength in the fingers and improve grip. Concentration Nuts and bolts challenge the child to successfully twist the nut onto the bolt. Using the additional pieces of wheels, blocks and cross pieces the kids are en...couraged to focus on the job and persevere until completion. Reasoning The nuts and bolts are different shapes and sizes. Kids use their cognitive skills to match the pieces by color, shape and size. With the addition of the other shapes they figure out how to put them all together. Creativity Kids look at the variety of pieces and think of the different ways to use them. This open ended activity encourages kids to put together new creations.

04.01.2022 A very funny morning at Happy Home.... LANGUAGE Being a very wet day today - a number of learning activities have been placed around Happy Home and the kids are exploring one by one.... I'm doing a course online today and as the kids move from activity to activity this is what I can hear.... "I'm not listening to myself" Finn 3... " Is it my turn yet for the purple" Willow 3 "You hold this and I'll pour it in" Finn 3 "nope I'm still drawing" Ariele 3 "Annie Tank is eating the rice again" Ariele 3 "Who needs some porridge" Willow 3 "Am I still 3" Willow 3 "Where have all the dinosaurs moved to" Finn 3 here is one for Willow Finn 3 See more

03.01.2022 SCIENCE - LANGUAGE - MATH - FUN This activity really is a lot of learning fun - just what is it that our kids are learning? Using food color and eye droppers I have set up each child with their own little experiment. Each child has 2 big blobs of shaving foam with two different primary colors - the kids are asked to have some fun and mix up the foam to see what new color this will make. Red and Blue will make purple Yellow and Red will make orange... Pink and yellow will make red Under the foam is bubble wrap - this is adding a fun popping experience They used scientific thinking to observe, predict and compare, and they experimented with cause and effect. They used mathematical concepts such as more and less, and devised ways to measure how much paint they were adding. They used a multitude of fine motor skills like squeezing, pouring and mixing, and worked on controlling those skills.

03.01.2022 MESSY SENSORY FUN Today Im bringing out the bubble wrap - shaving foam - and food colors. This messy activity is a extural wonderland that changes and reforms in our hands. Adding colour enables swirls and patterns to form and burying and hiding toys (today is dinosaurs) in the foam adds to the sense of discovery and play. Shaving cream encourages children to manipulate and mould materials, building their fine motor skills and coordination.

02.01.2022 UPCOMING VACANCIES Hi everyone we have a vacancy starting late January early February. This spot is perfect for a 2-4 year old. If we can help you in anyway please send a private message or call on 0439 923 721

02.01.2022 SENSORY Ohhhh the smell of Christmas is in the air today and the kids use peppermint - lemon - ginger - cinnamon tea for tea bag painting. Tea bag painting is one of the few activities that naturally uses all senses, sight (the different colors), touch (texture of tea leaves and tea bags), taste (the tea, of course we only use fruit teas), hearing (the rustling of tea bags and tea leaves as they shake) and smell (the different teas smell really nice).
