16.01.2022 Did you know young men have the lowest rates of help seeking of any demographic group? According to Headspace, some of the biggest barriers for young men disconnecting from healthcare services is due to the social stigmas around gendered behaviours (e.g. men showing emotions is reflected as weak and un-masculine), and the lack of awareness around what is available to them. I believe self care falls into this stigma category for men. Of the 3 pillars of health (Mental health,... Nutrition + Fitness), it seems fitness/exercise is the most socially accepted form of expressing self care for our young menThis picture is incomplete! Part of my vision with Happywhenfit is sharing this message with our male youth. Self care and masculinity is so much more than just going to the gym and lifting weights, or playing team sports. After all, you can’t out train a bad diet. Nor can you ignore the positive effects a healthy diet has mental health Breaking these negative stigmas around healthcare for our men is so important for their complete picture of well-being We had a great time yesterday with the ‘MasterChef’ experience at Australind Senior High The boys pictured won our challenge with their delicious macro balanced brekkie bowl creation of Greek yoghurt, green apple, orange, almonds, desiccated coconut and a drizzle of honey The flavour combination was See more

12.01.2022 An interesting article highlighting the importance of good nutrition and our mental health! Food can truly be our most potent preventative medicine or our slowest form of poison. This is why Happywhenfit programs are built around the 3 pillars of health as interconnected functioning forms of health- fitness, nutrition and mental health. They are not seperate of each other as our health education and medical systems often teach them. It’s necessary to reflect on this relationship with food and mental health when we come to pay for quality whole food ingredients. It’s a long term investment into your health and well-being that undoubtedly will pay dividends in the long run
11.01.2022 Yesterday was the first session for the @dalyelluphpe Cricket specialist group as apart of their healthy schools program Boys in particular become interested in the role of nutrition when they can relate it to the effect it has on sports performanceMany of them are playing and training a few times a week, yet unaware of the role of the macronutrient groups in performance and recovery. They were open to sharing that their healthiest meals are the ones made for them at home,... yet at school, it’s often the quickest and easiest thing to purchase from the canteen or grab on the way, which isn’t always the most nutrient dense or healthy options. This is an example of how awareness, availability (of quick and healthy options), and having positive mentors can empower our young people to want to make healthy choices for themselves Giving them opportunities to prepare and enjoy whole foods is a big part of that @ Dalyellup College See more

07.01.2022 Music for me has always been a form of true self-expression through story-telling. In a world where we are encouraged to seek perfectionism, we are often silenced in sharing our true stories. Check out this weeks blog (link below) ‘The power of honest storytelling in a fake world’. It’s time we all give ourselves permission to share and celebrate our imperfect selves https://www.happywhenfit.com.au//the-power-in-sharing-our-

01.01.2022 Every Wednesday I have the privilege of working with the Indigenous students of the 90 Degrees and Beyond Program. Students and teachers get to prepare and enjoy a variety of delicious, healthy foods, as well as gain the skills and understanding to implement sustainable healthy behaviours into their lives This initiative is apart of the Happywhenfit and Bunbury Farmers Market ‘Healthy Schools’ Program, educating and empowering our local community to make healthier choices f...or their well-being Today we jazzed up some of the breakfast basics with ‘Superfood Toast Toppers’ The response was an overwhelming YES/YUM to the healthy toppingsNothing makes me happier than breaking the stigma around healthy foods being boring or flavourless! This type of practical experience with healthy food is, in my opinion, the most valuable health education we can give our young people to take into their adult lives as a preventative health tool See more
01.01.2022 Health is a picture that radiates from the inside outThat’s why it’s about so much more than the food we fill our bodies with. It’s also the goodness we feed our mindsGood food and good friends are a great start to that picture of well-being These gorgeous girls from Manea Senior College certainly have that inside out glow after a Happywhenfit Healthy Teens session where we prepared a range of different healthy recipes, including Granola JarsWe talked about food as a preventative health tool, especially during the high stress times of year 11 and 12. Be your own Doctor Feed your body and mind from the inside out
01.01.2022 I have always loved listening to other people’s stories. Bringing the aspects of my own story together was how Happywhenfit started. I find our differences fascinating and nothing makes me feel closer to another human, than when they share their truth. It’s like someone opening a window to their soul and holding their heart out for you to hold while they tell it’s story As communities have evolved, so too has the art of storytelling, from what was once a shared connecting ...force, to what is now more the encouragement to share our ego narrative. Check out this weeks blog post (link in the bio) on ‘Reconnecting with our true identities: Releasing the Ego Narrative through honest story telling’. Let’s share more of our honest stories and invite each other home to a place of acceptance and love in who we are and all we have to contribute to the world around us See more
