09.01.2022 Vale John Thorpe, a local legend and one of the industry greats. John and his wife, Trish, took over as owners of Harbord Beach Hotel in 1978; a custodianship that lasted four decades. He was incredibly passionate about the venue, its staff and patrons (who were like family to him) and was a much-loved and respected member of the Freshwater community. John also achieved enormous success for the hotel industry over the years. He never took a backward step and always fought p...assionately for hotels. As promised to John when he sold the venue earlier this year, the Hiltons’ legacy will always be protected here. May his memory live on at Harbord. Our deepest thoughts go out to Trish, Sean and the family.
