11.01.2022 We may be a little late but we still want to wish Milvia a happy belated birthday for last Thursday! Milvia has worked with us for over 20 years and has been there since almost the beginning. While many things have changed in that time, she has always supported me and adapted to all the changes and worked particularly hard at nights during this pandemic to help keep the business open. Over all these years, what has stayed the same is her ability to serve up authentic and delicious Italian food made with passion and a few choice Italian words to go with it! Happy Birthday Milvia!

11.01.2022 After a lot of thinking and soul searching and almost 23 years as Proprietor of Harbour Lights Cafe, I have decided to sell the business. I remember walking in with my Dad all those years ago and knowing that it was going to be a great success. Dad supported my decision to buy it back then and I know if he was here, he would support my decision now. Some of you may know that I have been thinking of selling for a while now and I did not make the final decision lightly. Having ...spent over 30 years in hospitality and over 22 of these at Harbour Lights, I feel now is the time for me to move on. I feel very lucky to have worked with such an amazing group of staff over all these years whose loyalty and hard work have put the Caf in the best position it can be moving forward. The decision to sell is motivated by a need to spend more time with my family, especially while my kids are still young. As you know, hospitality is not an easy industry to work in and as an owner, what little time you have at home is spent doing all the background work it takes to run the business and I am at a point in my life where I would like to spend this precious time with my family. There have been staff and customers that have supported me since day one and I know how special that is in this industry. Most are like family to me and I will miss the many laughs and friendships I have made over the years. My kids will definitely miss my stories over dinner about the encounters I have had during my time and Ive been very fortunate to meet some very interesting celebrities dining in my cafe over all these years which I will cherish. I feel so lucky and so appreciative to have such loyal customers and your support meant that we worked our way through COVID and back out again. All the awards won over the years has been because of the great team of people and the incredibly loyal customers from Tassie, mainland and all over the world and I am so thankful. 04.01.2022 Happy Birthday to this incredible man today. Wow, what a year he had had and they way he has tackled it has been nothing short of amazing. All the staff at Harbour Lights, and Im sure all our customers, will tell you it was Robbies strength, perseverance, intelligence and good humour that helped everyone get through what was a very different time. There may have been days that he thought it was not worth opening but he still set the alarm early and headed in to serve who e...ver it was that came in the door. Robbie is always one to see the bright side of things and refused to give up even when things were at their worst. He has been so buoyed by the support of old and new customers and friends and has been such an incredible role model for our beautiful children that no matter what life throws at you, you always get up and give it a go. He is an amazing leader of the team at Harbour Lights, brilliant businessman and most importantly lovable family man. 03.01.2022 From birthday celebrations last week to a farewell this week involving my beautiful sister, Maria, who is finishing up today. Maria started working at the Cafe around 14 years ago and in that time has tried her hand at every job at the front and back of house. In the last few years she found her home in the kitchen where she always shines. Her passion for the business and her work and my family has always been huge and Im so grateful that she has been there on this journey w...ith me. Its more than just a job for her as anyone that works with us will tell you. She gives 150% every time and has made so many people happy over the years with her beautiful food, infectious laughter and huge smile which lights up the whole room. She has a heart of gold and is always looking after everyone else before herself. I know our customers will miss her fantastic cooking and so many will miss her treats and gifts.
