15.01.2022 Please remember no matter where you are camping, EXTINGUISH YOUR CAMPFIRE PROPERLY... Harcourt FB have attended several fires over the years where camp fires were not fully extinguished and over the following days the heat underneath kept embers alight. All it takes then is a gust of wind to blow those hot embers in to surrounding bush land.... Always make sure your fire is cool all the way through. The warmer weather is here!! So stay safe, cool and hydrated.

Today, Assistant Chief Fire Officer - Bernie Fradd joined Victoria Police at the launc...h of #OperationSafeguard - set up to prevent and detect the occurrence of intentional and reckless fires. Take extra care this fire season when lighting recreational fires like campfires, conducting burn-offs or using machinery. Keeping our communities safe from bushfire is a shared responsibility.

14.01.2022 SLOW DOWN AROUND SCHOOLS What's been happening at your local school crossing during lockdown? Have drivers bothered slowing down? With Prep to Grade 2 ...and Year 11 and 12 students heading back into school today, the people who oversee road safely in school zones are urging drivers to slow down. Michelle Holmes was on deck supervising the crossing at Harcourt Primary this morning, and told breakfast presenter Fiona Parker, "They (the children) are what makes our job, seeing their beautiful faces." She said during the last weeks of learning from home, school crossing supervisors have continued working to see the smaller number of students still attending school safely across the roads - and while traffic has been a lot quieter, what has been disturbing is motorists not slowing down. "The odd times when you did have to go out and take somebody across you'd be taking that extra care, wait just a little bit longer because you can just see them speeding through," said Ms Holmes. She also noted preppies in particular might need a bit of re-educating about the crossing rules after two months away. : supplied, Michelle Holmes in action

13.01.2022 Schools are back tomorrow for the first term of 2021, whilst some others go back next week on 1st February. Please note that School Crossings will be in action, park in appropriate places and reduce your speed around School Zones.
