Excess rain can cause pumps to fail, or worst case, be flooded causing pump fusion Dirty water from surrounding gardens can flow into your pool bringing with it dirt and nutrients which algae love The need for chlorine increases while the rain dilutes the chlorine levels putting your pool at risk of going green The salt level in your pool is diluted and your chlorinator may not be producing effectively to maintain required levels Your water balance goes completely out of whack risking damage to your pool surface and equipment But what can you do to keep your pool healthy? If your pool water level is above the skimmer take a moment to backwash or drain your pool back to a normal level. This will ensure your pool doesn't overflow and cause damage not only to your property, but that of your neighbours. Immediately after any heavy rain, you should take advantage of the extra water to give your sand filter a good backwash Clean filters and empty baskets Remove all dirt and storm debris with a cleaner Get your water tested Check there's been no damage to your equipment
