09.01.2022 COLOURFUL DESIGN TAKES THE WIN FOR MURRUMBURRAH MILLS After a two (2) week voting period the winner of the Murrumburrah Mill Painting Project is Painting A. The mural, a portrayal/depiction of the deep history and significance of the mills to our community, will be painted by renowned silo artist Heesco. It is anticipated that the project will boost the tourism market for Harden Murrumburrah, and will be added to the New South Wales Silo Painting trail. ... The more colourful option of the two has taken the vote count by seventy-four (74%) percent said HRDC CEO Chris Ireland. There were just over 500 votes cast in the two (2) week period which is a fantastic response and shows the high level of engagement in the Harden Murrumburrah community, Mr. Ireland said. The project will now move to the development stage and we will work closely with owners Greg and Robyn Medway in the hopes the artwork will be completed by the end of the year. There is a lot to work through now that we have a direction from the community, but first and foremost is waiting until our artist can safely travel into New South Wales. Covid19 restrictions will need to be strictly adhered to as part of the process and we are currently working collaboratively with another local government area in NSW that is also waiting for restrictions to ease so they can have their Silos painted by Heesco. We will continue to engage and notify the community on major milestones as we get closer to carrying out the project and I encourage everyone to like our Facebook page and sign up to our newsletter, said Mr. Ireland.
