18.01.2022 On 19 May the QLD Government announced their Small Business COVID-19 Adaption Grant Program. This program is to support small businesses subject to closure or highly impacted by the COVID-19 shutdown restrictions announced by the QLD government, to adapt and sustain their operations. If you apply you must meet the eligibility and assessment criteria to be considered for funding.... 06.01.2022 SCAMMER ALERT - JOBKEEPER With many businesses enrolling for JobKeeper this week, we expect to see a spike in scammers targeting the bank accounts of businesses and employees. It could be something quite simple like We note that you have recently applied for JobKeeper however we are unable to issue the subsidy until you reconfirm your bank account details. Please provide your bank details below.... The ATO will not ring and request bank account details. The ATO will not email and request bank account details. If there is an issue the ATO should ask you to log into the business portal and check your bank account details. Do not click on a link purporting to be from the ATO. This situation may not arise but we can see that this will be a time when taxpayers are uncertain and may inadvertently provide bank details. If you are unsure if an ATO interaction is genuine, do not reply to it. Instead call the ATO on 1800 008 540. #HardingMartin

Originally the ATO advised that activity statements lodged pre 28 April 2020 would see the Cash Flow Boost amounts offset against old tax debt before any eligible refund was released while BAS lodged on or after 28 April would not see the credit used to pay outstanding liabilities. The ATO has announced that it will no longer discrimi...nate based on when the BAS is lodged. . Today we have seen the first Cash Flow Boost refunds flow into client’s business accounts to assist with cash flow at this difficult time. Fabulous. Thank you ATO. 02.01.2022 ! The ATO has extended the Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting exemption for closely held payees to 1 July 2021 (previously was 1 July 2020). Closely held means an employee directly related to the employer (e.g. family members, directors, shareholders, beneficiaries).... Thank you ATO. A good decision at a stressful time for small business. #HardingMartin
