25.01.2022 Everybody loves a good dance and when you combine it with exercise you are in for a fun time! As part of the lifestyle program for October Hardi Manly Vale introduced Zumba. This low-impact workout went for 45 minutes and had all the residents dancing and staying healthy. The session was led by Maria, she is an accredited instructor from Senior Champions. She mixed and matched residents favourite peppy songs to create a perfectly Zumba style routine. This fun session introduc...ed easy to follow choreography using colourful ribbons, maracas and clapping techniques that focus on balance, range of motion, flexibility, coordination and other elements of fitness. Manly Vale residents thoroughly enjoyed this energetic and fun workout and look forward to adding this to the monthly calendar as a must-do. If you have or your loved one has suggestions for new activities, please see your lifestyle team or fill in a suggestions form at reception. #agedcare #zumba #dancetherapy #hardimanlyvale See more

22.01.2022 It was a day to remember for the residents at Hardi Summer Hill, when they got to jump on the back of a Harley Davidson trike and take a ride with the wind blowing in their face. For some residents this was a once in a lifetime experience and a dream come true to be on the back of a bike. One resident commented the only thing that could have made it better was if I could have stayed on all day and everyone agreed. For one resident, Abby, this experience was something he thought would never happen. He has been in a wheelchair for over 10 years following a stroke, so with a positive attitude and the support of a loving and determined care team he was able to participate on the day and you could just see from the smile on his face it was all worth it in the end. #agedcare #harleydavidson #hardisummerhill #bike #onceinalifetime
20.01.2022 20 new cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in NSW between 8pm on 18 July and 8pm on 19 July. As cases resulting from community transmission continue to be rep...orted, NSW Health is calling on people across the state to redouble their efforts to stop the virus spreading. Everyone needs to be aware that there has been transmission in venues such as hotels and restaurants, gyms and social gatherings and therefore they should exercise particular caution in those situations. While it is not a legal requirement, it would be preferable and safer for the time being to avoid all non-essential travel, and not host or attend gatherings of more than 10 people at home (not withstanding that the legal limit is 20 people). Everyone should observe social distancing and hygiene measures. We strongly recommend wearing a face mask in situations where social distancing is not possible. It is critical that anyone feeling unwell even with the mildest of symptoms such as a runny nose or scratchy throat seeks testing and self-isolates until they get the result. Stay at home, and do not go to work or catch public transport until you are cleared of COVID-19. All South Western Sydney clinics are open and will continue to operate while there is a need. A full list of COVID-19 testing clinics is available below, and people can visit their GP: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectio//Pages/clinics.aspx There were 21,167 tests carried out in the 24-hour reporting period, compared with 25,917 tests in the previous 24 hours. There are 96 COVID-19 cases being treated by NSW Health. Two are in intensive care, and one of these requires a ventilator. In NSW, 2,799 people are known to have recovered from COVID-19. The 20 new cases include: Three people who were contacts of cases linked to the Crossroads Hotel cluster Eight people associated with the Thai Rock Restaurant in Stockland Mall Wetherill Park, including four who attended the restaurant and four close contacts Four people associated with the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club, including two diners, one staff member and a contact of the previously reported cases Four overseas travellers in hotel quarantine One person who was infected while in Victoria who entered NSW before the border restrictions were in place. A total of eight cases are now linked to the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club. NSW Health is directing anyone who was at the Soldiers Club on Monday 13 July, Wednesday 15 July, Thursday 16 July or Friday 17 July to immediately be tested for COVID-19 and self-isolate for 14 days, regardless of symptoms. The total number of cases associated with the Crossroads Hotel cluster is 48. This includes 14 who attended the hotel on 3 July, one who attended on 5 July. One case reported yesterday was mistakenly linked to the hotel. There are now 16 cases associated with the Thai Rock restaurant. As case investigations continue, we have found a number of venues have been attended by cases. Information on all venues is available here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates. People who work in high-risk settings such as healthcare facilities or aged care homes must not to attend work if they have symptoms and must get tested immediately. People should also not visit relatives in these settings if they have even the mildest of symptoms or have recently returned from Victoria or attended affected venues. It is essential people follow directions they receive about home isolation and quarantine and maintain COVID-safe practices of physical distancing of 1.5 metres, cough or sneeze into their elbow, and regularly wash their hands.
20.01.2022 COVID-19 has been tough on all our residents with changes to daily schedules, limited visitors and outings postponed. For one residents from Hardi Aged Care Penrith Judith this has been hard as she has had to miss her normal outing with the NDIS support worker. So the lifestyle team at Penrith helped harness her talent and passion for art and created Judith with a space to draw and paint her masterpieces. After lunch everyday Judith with the help of the lifestyle team set up ...her area with all her art supplies and she got to working on some amazing pieces of art, this small activity has helped Judith deal with her change in schedule and stopped her missing the outing with her NDIS support worker. The artwork that Judith was creating looked so good it didnt seem right not to been shown off so Lifestyle member Donna, asked Judith if she could create a little display outside Judiths room so the masterpieces could be on display for all to see and admire. Judith is so ecstatic for her art to be on display and it gives her extra motivation to create some special pieces especially since all residents, visitors and staff comment on how amazing it looks. #agedcare #artclass #agedcare #drawing #hardiagedcarepenrith #COVID-19 See more

The alert has been issued after a confirmed case linked to the Thai Rock restaurant cluster attended the church on the four occasions outlined prior to being diagnosed. Two additional cases, parishioners who also attended services on these days, have now also returned a positive result for COVID-19, both of whom are in isolation. NSW Health is working with the parish to contact worshippers who attended and signed the attendance sheet. The church has undergone cleaning but will remain closed as a precaution. Western Sydney Local Health District is setting up a pop-up clinic in the car park of Our Lady of Lebanon Cathedral from tomorrow for the next four days at 9am - 4:30pm. Drive through clinics are also available in the area at Stocklands Merrylands and Homebush and walks in clinic are also available at Westmead, Westmead Childrens, Blacktown and Mount Druitt hospitals. NSW Health is reminding those wishing to attend church services to adhere to social distancing advice and practice good hand hygiene. Anyone who is feeling unwell should avoid public gatherings and workplaces, self-isolate and get tested immediately. 17.01.2022 The lifestyle team at Hardi Aged Care Guildford have been trying to become more creative in ways to keep resident active during this time, one big thing the residents have asked to be included in the lifestyle schedule is more ball games. They asked for something that can be played in the outside courtyard as they love the sunshine, fresh air and the smell of all the amazing flowers in the garden. After watching the resident play some indoor basketball with balloons the lifes...tyle team noticed they had some talented basketball players that could beat Michael Jordan or LeBron James in a game of one on one, with that in mind the lifestyle team went out and purchased a basketball ring and set it up in the outside courtyard so the residents could shoot some Kobes with each other. The ring has been set up to suit all residents even if they are in a wheelchair or tub chair, it has been a great addition to the already loved courtyard. The residents love this basketball ring with Clifford King taking the title of King of the Ring after some amazing shots. #Agedcare #agedefying #basketball #LebronJames #Hardiagedcareguildford #covidsafe See more

14.01.2022 Each week residents at Summer Hill look forward to our pet therapist Rachel and her four-legged companion Scout the spoodle. So we thought whats better than one dog? Multiple dogs. So to help support RSCPA cupcake day we invited family members to bring their dogs in and share morning tea with us at Hardi Summer Hill. Everyone was so excited to share morning tea with their new fourlegged friends and also talk about their own pets while raising money to help a worthy cause. On...ce all the doggies left and the residents started having dog withdraws (they are a real thing just ask any dog-loving person). Residents were surprised by another four-legged visitor that came in after morning tea. Bullseye, the therapy pony came for a visit and amazed us all with his kind nature as he horsed around in the courtyard while saying hay to all the residents. We have to say if Shane Booth the new Facility Manager buys a facility horse, he will win over the residents straight away. #furbabies #RSPCA #agedcare #pettherapy #pony #hardisummerhill See more

13.01.2022 As a part of an intergenerational program between Hardi Manly Vale and local daycare cenres, a group of toddlers from Manly Vale Early Learning Centre visited our home during the month of October. We were lucky enough to have 10 toddlers and 4 educators spend the day with our residents to help get them energised. You could see from the moment they walk in the door residents wanted to get more active so they could play and spend time with them. It was such a remarkable, happy ...moment for our residents, as they got to spend so much time with the little toddlers while engaging and entertaining them through different kinds of activities such as colouring, playing table games, toys and reading stories. The toddlers were super excited to see and play with our giant teddy bear, playing balls and watering the new plants in the garden. Our residents offered beautiful Thank You cards, while the toddlers handed in their beautiful drawings to be hung up in the Hardi Manly Art Gallery. These beautiful souls left indelible memories on the residents and put a smile on everyones face. 12.01.2022 During these uncertain times when group activities are limited, visitors and external therapist are restricted, robust mindful spiritual programming helps to create better quality of life for the residents. The Lifestyle team at Manly Vale thought meditation with mild yoga posture and relaxation music would be a great way to reduce stress and anxiety within the residents . The team incorporated this mindfulness practice into the lifestyle planner every Tuesday at 10.30am in t...he Central Courtyard. Our energetic lifestyle team threw a light on the benefit of yoga and meditation before starting the activity. With rising demand and increasing popularity we now hold an extra two yoga sessions on Friday and Thursday, in our morning activity. This mindful body scan and seated meditation with different breathing techniques were highly appreciated by the residents who were present. The soft sounds of meditation music bring miracle after few sessions and we would be positive to put it in our monthly lifestyle planner. It indeed helps to ground our minds from repetitive thoughts and brings positivity towards daily life. Our favourite resident Jutta Smith said Let us do it everyday morning and brings positive feeling in our life. John Eaton highlighted by saying that This practice improves the quality of our life. June Choptij stated that I would do the breathing techniques every morning before start the activity. 07.01.2022 Residents from Hardi Manly Vale love to read so it was only fitting that they celebrated book week. They came up with the idea of having a book club and a library trolley that gets pushed around the facility and residents can pick out their favourite books to read. Residents describe reading books as getting away from reality an...d taking an adventure with the characters, they can be a resident of Faulkners Yoknapatawpha County, hunt the white whale aboard the Pequod, fought alongside Napoleon, sail a raft with Huck and Jim, committed absurdities with Ignatius J. 05.01.2022 During the COVID-19, drawing classes commenced with Gladys our recreation and activities officer stepping up as the art teacher. Participants were provided with drawing equipment, and a whiteboard. Once they were equipped with the correct tools Gladys broke down how the residents can draw amazing items but in a simplified form. Residents followed her demonstrations and from that they were able to create amazing masterpieces. There are many benefits to drawing for older people. It is an activity that benefits the brain, as both hemispheres are being utilised. It helps with maintaining fine motor skills and maintaining coordination. It is also a way of being creative, gaining a sense of achievement, and an opportunity to get away from everyday worries. #agedcare #artclass #drawing #COVID-19

With a capacity for 21 residents including room for wheelchairs and... a range of features to aid mobility, including a wheelchair hoist and retractable step. Residents have recently taken a trip out to South-West Sydney looking at all the amazing Christmas light decorations, they took a drive down to the Royal National Park and feed ducks at the Centennial Park.
