22.01.2022 Bookkeeping joys! We all know that change is inevitable in our lives. Some changes creep up so imperceptibly, differences are hardly noticed. Some changes come crashing, barrelling into our lives which irrevocably alter the very fabric of them. Yesterday morning was one of those days for me. I knew it was coming. Dread permeated all thoughts leaving my brain in a seismic meltdown. Why you might ask! Well, I’ll tell you. Our lovely bookkeeper whom we’ve had forever, has... recently become a successful author (see for yourself: Kersten Chapman on Twitter). She made the decision to relinquish some of the activities associated with keeping our business running. I’m sure you can understand why I fleetingly considered begging, pleading, all forms of grovelling and even blackmail (if I’d had something to blackmail) to make her change her mind, but just as quickly recognised none of that really is my style. I am actually inordinately impressed with what she’s achieved. Go girl! Reach for the stars. Yup! Now I’m sharing this load with her, and I’ve gotta tell you that I personally loathe bookkeeping. I spent 2 years in high school a million years ago trying to understand what it was all about. I had the distinction of failing every single trial balance I ever tackled. 100% success rate with that. I’m okay admitting that I have some perfectionistic traits. Don’t be alarmed. Not scary serious ones, but deep down I know failure with this bookkeeping exercise is not an option. It’s my bloody business (actually co-shared with hubby)! So please, please wish me joy, luck, anything good, even very small amounts will do as I start this new bookkeeping phase in my life. I will survive. I know I will survive. I will get thru this.and come out a better person for it. Yuk!

16.01.2022 Does absence really make the heart grow fonder? Lots of changes have taken place since you last heard from us. My broken arm temporarily put me out of action at Hardwareone. Mike's in hospital today having some vascular surgery to one of his legs and he's left me holding the fort. Watch this page... you'll be hearing more...good news I hope.

14.01.2022 This month's special is Safety Month for tradies or those intrepid DYI folk. 10% off all hard hats, gloves, goggles, masks, vests etc. The welcome mat is out. The brass band is on tour, but don't despair, music is always here at HardwareOne.

02.01.2022 I only found out on Sunday when we attended the launch for Angela Vithoulkas for the next Lord Mayor for the City of Sydneythat because we own a business in the City of Sydney CBD we are entitled to vote in the councils election. Nice. I wonder how many other business owners know that. Not many, I'll bet.
