22.01.2022 Nano-Ceramic is used for sealing cast metals, porous surfaces, concrete, coatings and metal casting defects. This sealant is easily applied to thermal spray coatings and chrome plating absorbing into the surface reaching the base metal. When applied the nano liquid converts into ceramic nano-particles filling up the pores or defects. For example, in thermal spray coatings, the porosity can be filled in right up to the bond line. Likewise in chrome plating the nano-particle...s fill in the micro cracks enhancing corrosion resistance and life of the component. The sealant has been tested via conducting corrosion tests on test samples and microscopic observation of the coatings using SEM. 21.01.2022 Hard chrome coatings are used to protect steel components from corrosion in salt and acid mediums. It is extensively applied on steel cylinders, gears, which are used in many applications. The hard chrome coatings not only enhance corrosion resistance but the hardness and wear resistance as well. Not everybody knows this, but there are always defects in the hard chrome coatings such as micro-cracks, which affect the performance of the coatings. When exposed to a corrosive en...vironment, the cracks are enlarged due to the penetration of corrosive molecules under the chrome layer. Coating failure may happen due to stress corrosion cracking. The Image attached shows the cracks on the surface of the chrome plating. These cracks have been sealed using Nano Ceramic developed by Magdi Hanna, PHD of materials science, and distributed by Harfords Surface Technologies.
