23.01.2022 COURTESY REMINDER - LAST CALL VOTE 1 HARKIN 4 Boyd Ward
22.01.2022 Update 5th November 3pm I won the primaries. Preference counting is current.... I’m sitting 2nd to Stitford who is ahead of me by 180 votes. Craig Francis is 3rd - so he is out and his votes are now being distributed. 2500 ballots to distribute. So at its worst I finish second. The person who is 3rd and whose votes are now being distributed is part of the team of 5, So I think I will sink. But 2.5k votes ..... Anything could happen ? Should know one way or the other by COB.
20.01.2022 A COURTESY REMINDER This is one of the most important Council elections for a very long time. Voting is compulsory, so please ensure you vote is posted (or hand-delivered to the local election office) before 6 pm on Friday 23 October.
20.01.2022 COUNTING for Boyd ward starts today. THANK YOU .....for your support !! It's very difficult for me to have any sense of numbers at this stage. I will be very disappointed if I do not gain at least my 'statistical fair share' in primary votes .....but I hope to do much better than that. Preferences will be the issue.... I have been surprised at the level of 'ward stacking' that goes on at this third tier local level of government. It is deliberately misleading and manipulative, and ought be severely frowned upon. It is however, not illegal. I will post an update later on incoming results. Fingers crossed. Rgds Colleen
19.01.2022 Bayside Council VOTE 1 HARKIN for Boyd ward
17.01.2022 There are (unfortunately, a lot of !) empty downtrodden looking shops in Hampton St. 'Crappy' presentation makes it difficult to lease the premises, it's really bad for surrounding active businesses, and it brings down the whole neigbourhood and the shopping experience. No one wants or can afford this.... I have plans for a simple, cost effective, efficient measure to address the issue. Vote 1 HARKIN for Boyd ward
17.01.2022 Bayside living provides our community with beautiful spaces and great facilities .... BUT.... community is not really about beaches and buildings........ COMMUNITY is about PEOPLE. We need to support for our elderly so they can remain in their own home as long as they would like to, and new mums and dad's after the life-changing time of bringing home a new baby, for example. ... Our rate payer funds need to be spent on fundamental purposes and pay proper attention and funding to HUMAN COMMUNITY SERVICES.
15.01.2022 Counting UPDATE Monday November 2nd All 1st preference votes have now been counted. I continue to be in the lead. ... 2nd / 3rd Preference counting starts Wednesday.
08.01.2022 Boyd Ward COUNTING - WIP UPDATE Group A votes (that is - first preference of all votes received by VEC before Friday 23rd October) have now been counted. I am in the lead. ... Group B votes (that is all votes received by VEC from 23rd October and until this Friday) will be counted next week. I will up date next week when more is known. My challenge will be preferences because the 'team of 5' all preference'd each other, and they all put me last. (bit of a compliment really :-) ) But it's not over until the last vote is counted :-) THANK YOU for all your support.
07.01.2022 WHAT'S THE POINT of having a Planning Department and all the people we employ in that department ? WHY create red tape and bother when a resident wants to build a 5m2 deck ... if we ignore the planning regulations/schemes when they matter the most ?? !!! I will be a champion of insisting on SUBSTANTIAL ADHERENCE to the planning schemes.
07.01.2022 3 INITIATIVES to RE-INVIGORATE HAMPTON ST I will champion a RETAIL FACADE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM GRANT initiative, specifically for Hampton St. Retailers / landlords will be offered assistance to improve shop facade and manage presentation and appeal by : ... 1. $:$ grant to improve presentation of shopfront streetscape, and /or, 2. establish a library of Council owned digital assets for perforated vinyl wraps of vacant shops to on an 'at cost' basis This will lift the street facade, support existing traders and encourage new business. Plus : 3. Improve pavement presentation with proper street cleaning that includes regular high pressure hosing of pavement corners. VOTE 1 HARKIN 4 Boyd ward
06.01.2022 HOW COME HAMPTON pier remains in jeopardy .... when Brighton pier, which was closed around the same time, is on the 'green light' list and has funding secured from the state government ? The Hampton pier is not only a piece of infrastructure or a piece of history............. The Hampton pier is also part of the SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE of our community. ... I will be a strong voice in a campaign to lobby the state government to repair and upgrade the pier. VOTE 1 HARKIN for BOYD ward
