24.01.2022 MESSAGE FROM THE COMPETITION CONVENOR Long Course Championships The Long Course Championships have been filled extremely quickly and are close to capacity. If y...ou know of any swimmer that is yet to enter please ask them to hurry to avoid disappointment as there will be absolutely no late swimmers added. Spectator ticketing will be available via Swim Central by the end of this coming weekend. The rule is one spectator per swimmer. The email confirmation must be shown on your phone or printed. We will be following the guidelines of Swimming NSW. We will post the details on our website once the meet has closed. If anyone attended any of the NSW meets on the last two weekends you will be familiar with the set up. We will not be selling programs on the day. They will be available to print and download on Thursday evening 5th November 2020. Open Water Championships The Open Water meet will be held on 2 separate weekends to ensure we can maximise the number of swimmers that can compete. The girls 5km, 7.5km & 10km events will be held on Sunday 15/11/2020 in the morning. The boys 5km, 7.5km & 10km events will be held on Sunday 22/11/2020 in the afternoon. The program will be available on our website in the next few days and the online entries will open Monday 26/10/2020 at 8:00am. Only registered swimmers from a NSW club will be able to enter and must enter via Swim Central. No late or manual entries will be accepted. No entries on the day will be accepted either. The number of entries will be limited to 230 swimmers. Spectator tickets will be available and the rule is one parent per swimmer. Junior Sprint Meet The Area had intended to run a meet for 13/Under swimmers that wanted to race prior to Metropolitan Championships. The Area was unable to secure a venue to hold the meet this coming weekend. A proposal to hold a separate event for the younger swimmers after the completion of session one of the long course championships was developed. Whilst we have had to restrict the events we are providing, it should be beneficial to the swimmers. The Area will hold 4 x 50m events with qualifying times that are 2 seconds slower that the Metropolitan qualifying times. The age groups will be 9-13 years for boys and 9-12 years for girls. The Area is aware that there will be many swimmers disappointed that they can’t swim at this event. In these uncertain times we are trying to do the very best we can for the swimmers but until restrictions are relaxed, we have no options to provide further events. This meet will be restricted to 300 swimmers or until the timeline of 6:30pm is met. The swimmers will not be able to enter the venue until the completion of the first session. The expected entry time will be around 2pm with a 3pm start. Entries will open on 26/10/2020 at 8:00am in Swim Central. Ticketing will be available for spectators as per the other events. One parent per swimmer. Swimmers that are competing in the Long Course Championships are not permitted to swim in this event. Note: Clubs will be asked to nominate the Coaches attending all the above meets. REMINDER: If you or anyone in your family have been feeling unwell/sick, please DO NOT attend ANY of the above swim meets. A refund will be issued on request.

Event will be open in Swim Central on 30/12/2020 at 8:00am. The meet will be held over two separate weekends. Session One - Saturday 06/02/2021 - at the completion of the Speedo Heats Sessions Two and Three - Saturday 13/03/2021. Age as at 06/02/2021 for both weekends. Swimmers aged 12 to 13 years can only compete in one Area Championship in the 2020/202 season. If the swimmer competed at the senior meet on 7 & 8 November 2020, they are ineligible to enter these championships. Both dates are subject to current NSW Health and Community Sport restrictions. Tom has been coaching for 8 years and coached two athletes onto junior Australian teams. He has head coached a surf club to finish on the podium at the state titles and top ten in the country!
