22.01.2022 Great to have a chat to our new neighbour this morning - Bianca Sheedy has joined the team at Bondi Health and Wellness recently. Bianca is a Naturopath with a special interest in plant based diets, the role nutrition plays in anxiety and working with hormonal imbalances. Not only that, she is a yoga and meditation instructor! A highly qualified and super interesting practitioner! https://www.bondihealthandwellness.com//our/bianca-sheedy/

21.01.2022 All diets have their pros and cons. Vegan/Plant based diets require careful management so that Essential Amino Acids and other important Nutrients are still at healthy levels. In the clinic next door to us is a Nutritionist who specialises in this approach, Bianca Sheedy (great page to follow if you are on a Plant Based Diet!). The following study identified a number of nutrients that Vegans had lower levels of compared to Omnivores (Vitamin A, B2, Zinc etc) which all contribute to bone health. https://www.news24.com//could-following-a-vegan-diet-lead-

19.01.2022 Pretty amazing to watch how this unfolds! Thanks Sandii!

18.01.2022 This may interest anyone with a new years resolution related to getting healthier: "Mason, 52, says she learnt to ignore her weight gain over the years, and began 2020 measuring 110 kilograms. Then, in February, thinking that as she got older the weight would become even harder to lose, Mason completed a new quiz from the CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, as part of its Total Wellbeing Diet program. The ones about self-worth I found confronting, says Mason, of ques...tions on the "start strong" diet quiz, which launched to the public for free this week. Questions include how people would best like to be described (as sexy, wise or fit, among other choices) and why they wanted to manage their weight (it would be fun and enjoyable, or they would feel ashamed, guilty, or anxious if I didn’t, and so forth). Mason was one of 11,000 new members of the online diet program who took the quiz as part of new research by the CSIRO into the motivations, passions and readiness for change of participants, and how they could combat motivation slumps. It goes back to those psychological theories of what drives behaviour and what drives behavioural change; science around types of motivation and quality of motivation ... and then we’ve asked questions that do sort of make you reflect and think, says CSIRO nutrition and research scientist Dr Gilly Hendrie. Hendrie says the quiz draws upon Self-Determination Theory, which explores the differences between intrinsic and extrinsic motivations. The intrinsic, or internal, things are stronger [than external motivations]; we can go back to them, and they come back to our core values, Hendrie says, explaining that the former could include wanting to feel better and have a better quality of life, while the latter could include wanting to look good for someone else. https://www.smh.com.au//new-year-weight-loss-goal-first-co
