19.01.2022 It's well into Networking Season and time to think about who you need to talk to this year and what you're going to do achieve your goals. For many people last year was a bit much and the return to work has been a daunting thought. After a year of isolation and challenges, networking might feel a bit frivolous.... Let me assure you, networking is not willy-nilly chit chat, no one has time for that. It’s strategic and focused, mutually beneficial relationship building. So here are five ways to get your networking season cracking and to get you on track for an amazing year, whatever gets thrown at you. 1. Define your areas of focus limit it to three things 2. Create a list of people and organisations operating in these areas 3. Reach out and connect with them or subscribe to the organisation’s newsletter this is your first meeting 4. Make some phone calls aim for 2 per week 5. Book in a coffee or attend an event (online is fine) aim for 1 per week Keep at it. This is a tried and tested method for better business outcomes and for helping you reach your goals. Doing this consistently will get you there, no question about it. #influence #leadership #communications #networking #careers #inspiration

18.01.2022 Does anyone else remember this happening at the end of the 90s? It can be a very successful strategy in some organisations and a disaster in others. There is much we can learn from both previous leaders (and history), but I do wonder if the CEO is the best role for them.... What do you think? https://bit.ly/3sHC3PW #leadership #management #personaldevelopment

11.01.2022 3 steps to an outstanding LinkedIn Profile Your personal brand and profile are now more important than ever. They are your ticket to being noticed in a very crowded marketplace.... Yet most profiles I come across yes, even the CEOs and business leaders are pretty average and fail to be distinctive or communicate value. So here are some tips on what you can do to strengthen your personal brand by creating a seriously good profile. 1. Professional Summary - Your summary is the single most important thing you can do for your profile. It is more often than not the only thing people read, and it’s certainly the first. It should be no more than 300 words and should sum up your experience, skills, and the business outcomes you have achieved. 2. Professional Photo - First impressions count, so invest in having a professional photo taken 3. A "Complete" Profile - Your LinkedIn profile is not your CV, despite the constant requests from LinkedIn to add more information. So when it comes to completing your profile, think ‘date me, before you marry me’ and leave a bit of mystery for the meeting. #personalbranding #careers #influence

06.01.2022 Have you shadowed a leader in your business lately? Have you connected with someone you'd like to learn from? Do you have someone you can bounce ideas off or get advice from at a tricky point in your career?... When was the last time you had a coffee with someone to talk about what next? Many of the learning opportunities we had a year ago have vanished. The sponsoring of projects, the shadowing, the micro conversations, the, "have you got a minute?" interactions. They're quite hard to do now. But it doesn't have to be that way. What if you could spare one or two hours a month as a mentor? Can you imagine the difference you could make to someone's life? I've seen firsthand how mentoring helps people and it goes both ways - both mentors and mentees benefit. I think it's time we stepped up and formalised some mentoring programs so that we can close this learning gap now. #leadership #mentoring #leadershipdevelopment #personaldevelopment #influence #careers

05.01.2022 Are you caught up in the bubble that is your business? It can be detrimental to you and your work if you don’t stay connected to your market. If you are either designing or delivering a strategy and you aren’t stopping to pause, assess and communicate, you are setting yourself either to fail or not achieve an optimal result.... This is where your stakeholders come in. Communicating with both internal and external stakeholders helps you stay abreast of industry trends and developments, enabling you to make better strategic decisions which can be crucial to a project’s success. #leadership #communications #influence #careers #management
