05.01.2022 I want to help as many people that I can during stage four restrictions with as many little helpful tips as I can. I pride myself on being able to help clients with lower back pains. During stage 4 restrictions it's difficult to leave your house, yet lower back pains don't go away.... I have copied some images for you to be able to visually see how you can help someone in your family with lower back issues. Please everyone take precaution not to massage too hard or press too deeply on the lower back area. I also advise that when someone is having excruciating pain to consult a GP before commencing my self help massage tips to ease lower back pains. These are only basic helpful tips, please everyone understand that my guidance is only for basic information to help ease superficial lower back pains. You can use any type of oil that you have in your house. Massage oil preferably. Creams such as hand or body creams won't work as well. Step one: Ensure that the person is lying down in a comfortable position with a towel underneath them and also one covering their glutes to prevent oil from staining the area around you. Then rub a small amount of oil into both hands. Step two: In a soft smooth gliding motion, stroke upwards and downwards on the persons back (as per first image). Start next to the spine and work all the way out. Start at the base of their glutes and work up towards T12. Covering both lumbar and sacral area. Glide up and down 10 times gently. Move hands slightly outwards and repeat action another ten times. Again move hands a little bit more away from their spine also repeating action ten times up and down their back. Step three: Start with your fingertips close to the spinal area and with entire hands move away from the spine using a gentle soothing flowing stroke (as per image number 2). Starting at the glutes and covering both the sacral and lumbar area. Repeat this action 10 times in three different areas moving up towards T12. Softly with a small amount of pressure glide entire hand outwards all the way to the edge of their body. Step four: Using small circular motions with a small amount of pressure starting at the base of their back do 10 small circular motions inwards and then ten circular motions outwards. Move thumbs a wee bit out and repeat circular motions both inwards and outwards. You should be able to roughly do around three or four small circular motions to the outer of their back (keeping in mind that steps are based on average size adult).
