22.01.2022 The word collaboration means the act of working with someone to produce something - we’ve captured a moment that tells us how children act as mediators in play as they form thinking and plans to produce a bird using transient art. it needs 2 legs like the picture Having opportunities to reflect and negotiate assists children to form collaborative play. #collaboration #teamwork #paitence #creativity #art #theharmomyway
22.01.2022 We have been holding some conversations with our Kindergarten children over the last few weeks around what is kindness. Today, Miss O. contributed to the thinking book to share her thinking around caring for infants. Gentle feels like soft, and when you be gentle, people feel safe as we continue to unpack social responsibility we see how children can communicate honestly. #kindness #theharmonyway

19.01.2022 Mr L I want to help so we provided the opportunity to expand our writing skills to make signs for our hallway spaces. We love when children contribute to the service. #theharmonyway
19.01.2022 Mr H was particularly proud of the result from working on a plan to build a car. The use of many loose items allows for creative and innovative ideas to take shape.
19.01.2022 Capturing beautiful thinking from our thoughtful citizen Mr H. we need some hiding holes for those who need to rest, if they can hide they can calm. When children use drawings for purposeful communication to articulate ideas, we see that they’re capable contributing big picture thinking that brings awareness to skills such as compassion. Mr H shows us ways to alleviate discomfort for others and propose ideas to make environments more inclusive.
18.01.2022 Today we were extremely privileged to have a visit from Aunty Peggy. Aunty Peggy is an Aboriginal Elder who is going to be spending time at Harmony working with us to incorporate Indigenous culture into our service. 14.01.2022 We’ve continued our exploration using clay. What we know is that children must first use materials such as clay to build the muscles in hands, arms and upper body to be able to build fine motor skills that are used to begin making marks, drawing and writing. As these muscles are practiced every day children work towards building key skills such as the pincer grip. We use clay as a tool to support this lengthily journey but appreciate the slow small steps children take to achieve their own development. #clay #muscledevelopment #finemotor #sensory #theharmonyway

04.01.2022 Our task is to help children communicate with the world using all their potential, strengths and languages, and to over come any obstacle presented by our culture- malaguzzi. The discussion on kindness continues throughout our centre by understanding what kindness looks like to the environment and what culture we set for the resourceful child. As we ‘practice’ our drawings the kindergarten children tell us that wasted paper is not kind to trees and our environment. With a focus to become more responsive to wastage, we introduced platforms for the children to practice their drawings and offer the opportunity to correct their work before transferring to the thinking book. Even our infant children are provided with the opportunity of practice. #mindful #kindness #globalcitizens #sustainable
