25.01.2022 Construction crew have uncovered some original cobblestones on Pier Street as part of the City of Perths East End Revitalisation project. More than 1000 stones... from the 1920s or earlier are now in safe storage, with hopes to re-use them in the East End Revitalisation Project. Fiona Hook from Archae-Aus says while commonly referred to as cobblestones, these stones appear to have been cut or dressed in a quarry and are not naturally shaped cobblestones.

17.01.2022 Good afternoon friends and colleagues! I hope this notice finds you all well as we approach a very well deserved long weekend! I wanted to update you on how our first couple of virtual assemblies went! Super! Amazing! Exciting! A big thanks to Angela Melia at Statewide Services for all of her support in getting us ready to go and checking in with some parents as they connected for the very first time. Although a lot of practices took place and a lot of things didn't work in t...he lead up to our first assembly, the actual event went off, almost without a hitch. We did have a bit of feedback at one point, but when we realised that a mic had been unmuted, we were able to solve that and move on. What we did: 2 stations - 1 in the staff room with the class doing their assembly item and all of the music on a separate sound system (e.g. community song, national anthem etc.) the other was the group of kids in the undercover area receiving awards, with the deputy principal and microphone, ready to present. We started the assembly off with our school banner in front and had some background music for the parents to check their audio was working. Then we started as normal, in the staff room, before crossing over to the undercover area. As I was hosting the event, I was able to change the presenter easily and mute and unmute any mics. We then returned back to the staff room to finish off and that was it! It worked well and we have had lots of positive and supportive feedback from the parent community! Yay! We are even considering keeping this option POST COVID to allow for those working parents or parents/grandparents in different locations to be able to tune in and watch. What have you started doing in your school, because of COVID, that you are now considering continuing because you are seeing the benefit? We'd love to hear your experiences!

12.01.2022 It's National Reconciliation Week this week and then we lead into the WA DAY long weekend. I hope you all have a wonderful long weekend and can celebrate the wonderful place that we live in with friends, family and loved ones. What is National Reconciliation Week? National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.... The dates for NRW remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively. This was quoted from https://www.reconciliation.org.au/national-reconciliation-/ Our class watched a great segment on BTN this morning that went into what it is and the perspectives of some Aboriginal people who shared their experiences and feelings. It was a great discussion starter for our class and very well put together by the ABC and BTN crew. Check it out here! How is your school acknowledging and/or recognising National Reconciliation Week?
