23.01.2022 Trish and I are just back from a terrific holiday to Victoria visiting friends and driving the Great Ocean Road. I found it every bit as spectacular as people say BUT only when the light is good. We had variable weather, sometimes beautiful blue sky, other times dismal and grey (sometimes on the same day). The day we visited the 12 Apostles the weather was poor so I decided to try to edit one of my photos in Photoshop to try to show how it would look on a nice day. I think the result is not perfect but quite good. What do you think? If you want to learn photo editing contact me and I can teach you. Cheers. John

16.01.2022 I'm sure you heard about the bomb blast in Bangkok but not sure if the HUGE Thailand bike event 'Bike for Mom' made the news in Oz. The Thais were trying to make the Guinness Book of Records for the largest bike ride after Taiwan made it recently with 72,000 starters. Well, Thailand just beat them with an incredible 139,000 starters just in Bangkok. Some of you will know I'm now a keen cyclist and as I'm presently in the small town of Trat, Thailand I was lucky enough to witn...ess the fantastic spectacle of several thousand cyclists gathered for the event. It was made especially interesting since their ages ranged from 3 - 83. and they came on all manner of bikes. Although the event was as much to do with solidarity for the monarchy ('Mom' is HM the Queen of Thailand and the ride was led by the 63 yr old Crown Prince) it was a fantastic pr exercise for cycling. Hope you like the following pics! See more

06.01.2022 How about an interesting and fun day or weekend in the Hunter to visit Sculpture in the Vineyards? This year there are many fabulous exhibits at Stonehurst, Cedar Creek, Undercliff Winery, Wollombi Wines and Wollombi Village Vineyard. The exhibition finishes on 28th November so get here soon. Ive posted a few photos I took to whet your appetite!

02.01.2022 Spring is well and truly here and as usual our garden is a riot of colour almost entirely due to the efforts of my wife Trish (and Mother Nature of course). To take great shots of flowers the best time to take them is usually early in the morning on a very still day either on an overcast day or in the shade. Although you can get good shots in full sun it is much more difficult. Im posting a few shots from this morning for inspiration. BTW my next weekend course is on 7/8 November. I still have vacancies so if you or someone you know would like to attend please email or call me. Remember Christmas is not too far away and a Harrisons Photography gift voucher for personal tuition, a photography course, or a family photo session makes a convenient and very much appreciated gift. www.harrisonsphotography.com.au

01.01.2022 As many of you know, most years my wife Trish and take a small group on a photo tour to Thailand. Unfortunately this year we were unable to get a group together..we need at least four, but of course we still go anyway by ourselves. This year we headed for Koh Chang, an island approx 350km from Bangkok nr the Cambodian border. Although we enjoyed Koh Chang, we were a little disappointed by the scenery, esp. the beaches which, imho are nowhere near as good as Oz. Also we t...hought the cuisine was often toned down for western taste and lacked the full range of goodies seen on the mainland (unless you are into KFC and Maccas kind of food in which case you will most likely enjoy it). We decided to leave early and go to Trat, the nearest town on the mainland where we have been staying for the last few days. We love it! Friendly people, great food, cheap as chips and of course loads of photo opportunities. Here are a few pics The beach ones from Koh Chang and the others from Trat. Excuse the quality of some as I cant edit them whilst Im away. See more
