25.01.2022 Schools across our Region have participated in National Walk Safely to School Day today. Harristown State School students were just some of the keen walkers who took up the challenge. What is your favourite walking path in the Region?



25.01.2022 Day 3 and camp is done and dusted. The bus is on its way home and at this stage students should be back by 3pm for pick up.

24.01.2022 Our Little Heroes Playgroup had a wonderful time at their Picnic in the Playground on the last day of term. If you have a child aged 0 - 5, come and join us next term on Fridays between 9am and 10am.

23.01.2022 And that’s a wrap for camp! A massive thanks to Mrs Baron, Mr Shadwell, Miss Dobell and Mrs Baxter for taking care of our 49 campers over the past three days. Well done to the Yr 5/6 boys and girls who attended, you gave everything a go and respresented our great school with pride.

19.01.2022 It’s Week 9! Here’s what’s happening at Harristown State School this week! This week we acknowledge our amazing Support Staff. Our Teacher Aides and Support Officers, Admin and IT Staff, Groundskeeper and Speechies all work tirelessly to keep education humming at our school. Our PBL focus this week is Wearing the Correct School Uniform. Students are expected to wear their school uniform neatly and with pride.... Parent Teacher Interviews begin tomorrow with teachers calling parents to discuss student progress. If you would like to make a time to speak with your child’s teacher, please contact the class teacher by email or through the school office. Virtual Parade is on Monday. The Life Education van is visiting. Students across all year levels will participate. Year 4/5/6 students are participating in the Gala Sports Day on Friday. 2021 Prep Enrolments are welcome! Contact the school to collect an enrolment package and book an interview.



18.01.2022 What an amazing NAIDOC week! A huge thanks to Ms Robarts, Mrs Dodd, Ms Aimee, Ms Tracy and Aunty Barb for their work in organising and running all of the amazing activities for students.

17.01.2022 Did you know that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are embedded in our curriculum? The perspectives, culture, histories and stories of our First Nations people are taught throughout the Learning Areas and across all years. Our students are participating in NAIDOC activities for the next two days. Stay tuned for more photos.

14.01.2022 It’s Week 10! Here’s what’s happening at Harristown State School. Year 5/6s head off to camp tomorrow morning. The bus arrives at 7:30am and departs promptly at 8am. Students will return on Wednesday. We celebrate being Harristown Heroes with Hero Day activities - Prep to Year 2 on Wednesday and Year 3 to 6 on Thursday.... Our PBL value this week is Keeping Hands, Feet and Objects to Ourselves. Students will be learning about the High 5 strategy below to help solve problems peacefully. Little Heroes Playgroup meets on Friday morning from 9am to 10am. This week’s theme is butterflies and outdoor play in the Prep Playground. Gala Sports continue this Friday for Year 4 to 6. This week’s events are basketball and netball. Tuckshop is open Wednesday to Friday and the Uniform Shop is open Monday and Tuesday mornings. Don’t miss out - come to school everyday!

09.01.2022 From our Harristown State School Centenary Book: How many people remember the air raid trenches located at the corner of Warwick and Burton Streets? During the war years we had regular air raid shelter drills always under the direction of the head master, H Stevens. ... Friday 18 September is our last catch up for the term and we are heading to the Prep Playground for some outdoor play. If you have a child aged 0 - 5, come along and join in the fun!!

05.01.2022 We have initiated a NEW Dad’s Group at Harristown State School with an organisation called The Fathering Project. Our aim is to bring fathers and father-figures together with their kids for a few events a year, and also run some Dads only events where we support each other with raising kids in a supportive environment. Are you interested in participating in The Fathering Project in 2021? Mums out there, tag your father or father-figure in your child’s life and get them involved!

03.01.2022 Our Indigenous Education Coordinator nominated two students from the senior school for the Junior Education award. The winner is announced today at the Toowoomba NAIDOC Awards where the efforts of outstanding individuals within the community are acknowledged. Awards range from young education, young sporting through to community involvement. Good luck, girls!!
