22.01.2022 Dear friends You may be aware, that in recent weeks, we've finally received rain, so thank you for your 'rain dances'! Whilst the rain is very welcome, it's still quite patchy and we'll need a good amount of follow up rain before we can say goodbye to the drought. Thank you all for your emails and enquiries about the status of the 2017 Harry Redford Cattle Drive. As the end of the year is our traditional wet season, the committee won't be in a position to make any final deci...sion on the Drive until the end of January 2017. Fingers and toes crossed, we'll get our wish for good follow up rain in the wet season, and we'll ride again in 2017! Outback Queensland is looking beautiful at the moment and we are well and truly open for business. If you are planning a drive through the region, consider a stop in Aramac to see the White Bull monument, the star attraction at Harry Redford's trial in 1873. You can also visit nearby Lake Dunn, a birdwatchers paradise, an ideal spot for camping (cabins are available for hire), fishing and swimming. Also in the area is the new Lake Dunn Sculpture Trail. View more about Aramac's attractions here Should the event go ahead in 2017, bookings will be opened on a first come, first served basis. Logistically, it will not be possible to transfer bookings from the cancelled 2015 event and we would appreciate your understanding on this. You will be kept up to date via Facebook, website and this E-Newsletter. As a community, we are grateful for the recent rainfall and are optimistically looking forward to 2017. Thank you for your continued support. Yours faithfully Harry Redford Cattle Drive Steering Committee

19.01.2022 G'day everyone, Thank you for your continued interest in the Harry Redford Cattle Drive. The drought conditions have presented challenging times for Outback Queensland, however there's a renewed sense of optimism with the recent rainfalls. We're really hopeful that it is the beginning of a wonderful wet season. The Harry Redford Cattle Drive committee has decided to wait until after the wet season before making a decision as to whether the 2016 event will take place. We wi...ll keep you posted. We've been delighted to see so many visitors travelling in the Outback this season, with many exploring more of our country following new self-drive suggestions. It's been great to see an increase in families choosing an Outback road trip for their school holiday adventure. While we were disappointed to see the cancellation of the 2015 Harry Redford Cattle Drive, there were many other Outback Queensland events which attracted record numbers and provided a welcome economic boost to our towns. We will provide further updates on the decision for Harry Redford Cattle Drive 2016 after the wet season. For more information on our beautiful Barcaldine region, please like our new Facebook page. Here's hoping we see you all in 2016. Thank you for your tremendous support this year. Kind regards, Management Team Harry Redford Cattle Drive

The decision to cancel this event wasn’t made easily but the health and wellbeing of our community members, volunteers, visitors and Council employees is our top priority. Barcaldine Regional Council and the Harry Redford Cattle Drive committee have been working very hard ...to bring you this event. We hope that we can reschedule this event for next year. See you in Aramac and Outback Queensland sometime soon. Thank you to the Queensland Government for funding the Harry Redford Cattle Drive Reunion under the Year of Outback Tourism Events Program and 4LG and West FM for their sponsorship of the event.

17.01.2022 Dear friends, It is with regret that we advise the Harry Redford Cattle Drive will not be proceeding in 2018. As you may appreciate, this has been an extremely disappointing and difficult decision for the steering committee to make. The primary reason for the cancellation sits with the welfare of the stock and horses and available feed on the stock route. ... The Harry Redford Cattle Drive Committee sincerely regrets any inconvenience and disappointment caused by this unavoidable cancellation. We thank you for your continuing interest in the Drive. Best wishes, Harry Redford Cattle Drive Committee
17.01.2022 Dear friends It is with regret that we advise the 2016 Harry Redford Cattle Drive has been cancelled. Following extensive consultation with the Boss Driver, David Hay, and the Chair, Gary Peoples the committee has reached the difficult decision of cancelling this event due to the continued drought here in Western Queensland. As you may appreciate, this has been an extremely disappointing and difficult decision for the steering committee to make. The primary reason for the c...ancellation sits with the welfare of the stock and horses and available feed en route. The continued drought is now hurting entire communities, not just graziers. There are currently more than 40 shires drought-declared, including the Longreach, Barcaldine, Murweh, Winton and Barcoo shires. Should the event go ahead in 2017, bookings will opened on a first come, first served basis. Logistically, it will not be possible to transfer bookings from the cancelled 2015 event and we would appreciate your understanding on this. You will be kept up to date via Facebook, website and this E-Newsletter. As a community, we remain ever hopeful that these terrible drought conditions will break soon and we thank you for your continued support. Yours faithfully Harry Redford Cattle Drive Steering Committee
16.01.2022 We've been inundated with phone calls and emails and Facebook messages all asking if the Cattle Drive is going ahead this year. At this stage the committee is waiting to see if we get any more summer rain as the drought continues. The committee will make a decision in a few weeks regarding whether the event will go ahead or not and then we will notify everyone via our e-newsletters (to register go to http://www.harryredford.com.au/media/e-newsletter/) and via our Facebook. Pl...ease be patient with us, as soon as we have a definitive answer we'll be sure to let you know as we would love to go once again. Regards HRCD
15.01.2022 Dear friends, It is with regret that we advise the Harry Redford Cattle Drive will not be proceeding again in 2019. We are extremely disappointed that we could not bring this iconic event to you. Once again, the primary reason for the cancellation sits with the welfare of the stock and horses and available feed on the stock route. We sincerely regret any inconvenience and disappointment caused by this unavoidable cancellation. We would like to also thank all the past part...icipant and people who want to go on the Drive for their well wishes. Best wishes, Harry Redford Cattle Drive Committee
15.01.2022 2017 Harry Redford Cattle Drive - no decision until the end of January 2017 We've been getting quite a few enquiries about the 2017 Drive so we just wanted to touch base and let you know what's happening. At the moment, we are waiting...which is why there haven't been any updates on our page. It doesn't mean we've forgotten you, just that we don't have any new information. As the end of the year is our traditional wet season the committee need to wait until the end of Januar...y 2017 before they can make a decision about the 2017 Drive. If we do go ahead in 2017, bookings will be opened on a first come, first served basis. As previously advised we are unable to transfer bookings from the cancelled 2015 event. We will keep you up to date via this Facebook page, our website and E-Newsletter. In the meantime, please feel free to browse through all the fantastic photos we've posted from previous drives.
