12.01.2022 Found this piece, in behind my lathe covered in dust and shavings, i got it from Warren East a few years ago, I have just trued it up and started shaping the base, I'm thinking there's a pretty platter hidden in here ;-) It's 370 mm in diameter, I'm calling it Marri, but am willing to be corrected

11.01.2022 Found a piece of burl in the wood store, I was honestly starting to clear it out, a friend gave me this a few years ago, I thought I'd make it into a bowl for him. Started out ok, got a decent shape i thought, and turned it around and hollowed out, left a bit of thickness there because it was holey, was sanding and checked it out, was ok, then started the lathe again, speed seeing on 2 (very slow about 400 rpm) turned around to grab the sander and heard the revs going up, i got to the stop button just as it exploded, at about 2800 rpm, found some of it, Hard way to check if i had a consistent wall thickness. So now it's Beer O Clock, see you tomorrow

10.01.2022 Spent last weekend at the Perth Woodshow, spent some time with Theo the Woodturner, he was tirning little goblets from Mahogany Chop Sticks, they were about 10 mm high and 6 mm diameter, i asked about a captive ring, and got a laugh from him, I turned a goblet about 25mm high with a ring, Theo gave me a spining top about 6mm diameter from Mahogany (that spins) so I took it as a challenge and turned one about 8mm out of Celery Top Pine.

08.01.2022 Just processing some burl bits for my latest commission,

07.01.2022 I've been asked to make, something for my mate to take to Hawaii as a raffle prize, it started out as a square edged bowl, the piece didn't like that idea, so a design oportunity has occurred, also a small crack appearred in the rim, so some CA and sanding dust was applied, I'll have another go tomorrow
