18.01.2022 National Police Rembrance Day is tomorrow Tuesday the 29th of September Each year, the 29th September holds a special significance for Police throughout Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and the Solomon Islands. It is a day for police to pause to honour officers whose lives have been cut short while performing their duty as a police officer. This important day is also a time to remember police officers who have lost their lives through illness or other circumst...ances. As a mark of respect, the Australian National Flag and the New South Wales State Flag should be flown at half-mast all day on Tuesday 29 September 2020 from all buildings and establishments occupied by Government departments and affiliated agencies. Departments are requested to advise all agencies within their portfolios of these arrangements. Other organisations are welcome to participate. In accordance with flag protocol, all flags and ensigns at each flag station should be flown at half-mast during this time. However, should it be the custom to fly the flags of other nations at your flag station, it would be appropriate to seek permission from the diplomatic representatives of that nation to half-mast their flag. An acceptable half-mast position would be when the top of the flag is a third of the distance down from the top of the flagpole.

18.01.2022 And we back in our workroom after our break. This was a custom sewn flag for a customer who sought inspiration from the Kookaburra on the 20 dollar note and altered it to work with her boats colour scheme, we love the way this appliqued flag turned out. #customflag #australianmade #harrywestflags

03.01.2022 A wonderful use of code flags for these strange times we are all in world wide that we came across from Australian Sailing and many clubs are flying including the Sydney Flying Squadron which is just opposite us. "As the world has come to terms with the shutdown associated with the Visual signalling is a maritime and sailing tradition and the San Francisco Yacht Club (Belvedere, CA), Staff Commodore Jim Robinson has been looking at ideas that Yacht Clubs across America and ...around the World could use to create a sense of camaraderie and a way to communicate with each other and their members so that they know the Yacht Club would be there when their Members are able to return to sailing. I WILL STAND BY TO ASSIST YOU are the C G 1 flags. Many of our clubs are now flying these signals from their flagstaffs." #australiansailing #codeflags #inthistogether #harrywestflags See more

03.01.2022 The Firefighter Family Day on the Water set for 15 March at multiple sites across Australia has received tremendous support from the boating community and indus...try. Firefighters and their families will be arriving at the Hub's around Australia, beginning with a welcome BBQ, and then a great time on the water. Registrations are still open for Firefighters with their families until 28 February. Most of the hubs still have some capacity for a few more families available. The generous and immediate support from the boating community had given capacity for 190 boats to take out families on the day. We have also been able to allow the families to choose between an active sailing vessel, cruising sailing vessel or motor cruiser. Harry West Flags have very kindly helped everyone identify their fellow Firefighter members and sponsored flags for every boat taking part. We have been able to organise a day for some entire brigades: Balmoral Village RFS Brigade, Oakdale RFS Brigade and the Southern Highlands Remote RAFT Team, Horsley Park RFS Brigade, The Oaks RFS Brigade, Picton RFS Brigade, Shipley RFS Brigade. The Telfords Bus & Coach company have kindly sponsored all of the coach transport for the entire brigades, Sea Sydney Harbour, Hoochie Mumma, Ozcat, Perfect Day Charters and Pete Johnson have all generously provided these complementary charters and the Balmoral Boat Shed have sponsored their entire facility for the day. The boatshed and charter vessels have allowed us to invite an additional 287 firefighters to join. The tremendous support we have received has allowed us to significantly exceed the initial plan of taking out 100 families on 50 boats in 2 locations and we now look forward to connecting the last few boats with families and getting ready for a great day on the water. Firefighters and vessel owners can still register at the event website - aabboating.com/firefighters
