17.01.2022 The aftermath of our fires are horrendous... so many lives lost that few will remember

15.01.2022 The rain has changed the game a bit here at HAAH... we have New lush grass growing and we haven't seen it this green in years!! Our dams are full and our oldest resident is happy to pose for a pic in between meals!! After a chaotic time of fires and floods and losing friends - HAAH is starting to gain it's balance once more. #green #lush #rescuedanimals #donkeysofinstagram

11.01.2022 What would you do with that old horse? He's rough, He's dangerous and wild... His back is swayed, his form is poor.... He has no manners, he'll never be ridden. You'll struggle to catch him,... He'll never respect you... You're asking for trouble... What could you do with that old horse? You've never even touched one, You fear the very sight of them... You'll never get so close to him, to know anything he needs... What should you do with that old horse? Let someone else take that old horse, that rude and feisty, forgotten horse. Why would you want that that old broken horse? I met you in a bare paddock, there was nothing of you... that day will forever be the day that made me realise that nothing is impossible... that anything could be achieved with just the simplest of gestures... from the day we met, and spent hours convincing you that we were ok, you proved to be the most difficult to read... and i spent weeks in fear just trying to get within an inch of you - though as I held your face in my hands today, and you nuzzled into my cheek - I knew. With such a heavy heart, I knew. Why do you only give that absolute sign, just when you're about to leave me?? Your sister did the same... what a lesson to learn... 6 years to the day... 6 years of contentment... of regular feeds, health checks, pedicures, dentals, hair cuts, sneaky treats, back scratches, belly rubs (well lower shoulder rubs, or youd kick), baths in the dam, pig-rooting and just sheer fukn joy... 6 years of absolute do whatever you like... IM SORRY IT WASNT LONGER, SORRY I DIDNT FIND YOU SOONER...SORRY THAT I HAVE TO LET YOU GO... If someone had ever told me, that I would learn to love wholeheartedly, what I had always feared... I'd have run a mile... and maybe I did run that mile, but - along side you, in your company, in your wake... Django - you changed my life... You are the reason that Coco trusted us, why Archie knew to love us... you were the brave one, the fierce one who, against all odds, you helped them love us and showed us how to love you with all of our might... You were bold, gallant and brave... you were the very reason that HAAH even started... to the very last breath - you were all that I truly loved. I sat with you today, and tried to speak of your greatness... I failed in words, but I hope you felt my love in all that I did. Not just today, but in every day... you were the greatest lesson and the most fierce of teachers... What would you do with that old horse? What would that old horse do with me? You taught me patience, understanding and unconditional love... Everyday I thank the earth for bringing you into my life... you made me and I love you for that Django x

10.01.2022 So many lives still waiting to be found...

03.01.2022 It has been a long, long while since we posted here or updated any of our social media. We would like to acknowledge our absence and thank all of you who remain as friends and supporters of HAAH. The past 18 months has seen alot of grief here and it has been something that we have had to work through in our own way... I think that we are finally starting to feel ready to get back into the swing of things!! Whilst we have not been updating regularly (or at all), our priority has remained with our residents and taking care of them. We have a couple of new residents and in the process of organising space for more, but for now we just wanted to say thanks for sticking with us, thanks for your patience and we look forward to sharing our upcoming news and updates over the coming days!!
