22.01.2022 In a clients garden at Mount Wilson where the Camellias are really blooming their heads off. This one is Donation and its in my top 10 for hardiness and performs every spring!! Its flowers are a clear pink, beautiful green foliage and the blooms dont blemish and cleanly fall from the bush. Performs best in cold climates in the upper blue mountains NSW, Vic and Tasmania. #camelliadonation

21.01.2022 Asking for Voleenteers to work on the gardens and perennial borders here at Wild Meadows. We start next week and the programme runs for the month of August.. you can work as much or as little as you want. The dates are the 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st August. We will be cutting back perennials and grasses, splitting perennials and grasses and sowing seeds. 19.01.2022 In a garden at Clarence in the Blue Mountain where bush fires ravished through this village and where It was brought to my attention of 4 Wollimi pines standing at 5 meters possibly 20 years old, were burnt and black and to my surprise were coming into growth. Classified as conifers not many species come back after a fire and it was thought Wollimi pines would not. There were nearby conifers that looked very dead and Eucalypts burnt to the trunks with epicormic growth, so I would say the fire was very hot.. 1st pic shows growth at the base. 2nd pic shows growth at the very tip. 3rd pic showing growth from growth from beneath the bark (epicormic?) 14.01.2022 Two standout in flower now and have been for 4 weeks is Baptisia Purpe Smoke and the sumptuous oriental poppy Beauty of Livermere. Baptisia Purple Smoke was a chance seedling found in North Carolina Botanic gardens during the 90s and where @pietoudolf made it popular when used in many of he’s designs particularly the Lurie Garden in Chicago. Well it’s been with me for many years and now loving it here at Wild Meadows Garden.. 11.01.2022 Tulips clusiana, the lady tulip with its bicolour petals. The flowers open during the day and close and night.
