20.01.2022 Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 I love how these verses show that everything has a time and place in our lives. Everything goes through seasons. It’s comforting to know that... our lives have a rhythmic ebb and flow of good and sometimes not so good. I encourage you to read each verse and take comfort in knowing that whatever season you are in, it won’t last. The tide will change and the opposite will come to pass. I also find this encouraging to know that bad things will happen in my life. It’s just a natural way of things and knowing that prepares me. This scripture is confirmation that life can’t possibly be 100% perfect and rosey all the time. Being a mum for a year now has shown me that things can go from good to bad in a matter of minutes, and then back again in the same amount of time. Some circumstances have lasted longer, both good and bad, but they change constantly either way. I think the main thing the author of Ecclesiastes wants us to take away is that we should enjoy the good times as much as we can, because they won’t last. They will come and go, so we should take them as they come, and live with joy in those times. But then also realising that the bad times will pass and that is something to rejoice about! I hope this encourages you if you are going through a valley, and that this prepares you if you’re at the top of your mountain. Have a blessed week whatever season you’re in

08.01.2022 Psalms 121 God the help of this who seek Him Everyone needs help from time to time, but I think mums especially need plenty of help. When you first have a baby... just the simple act of someone else cooking or cleaning for you is something that is so needed. As our babies grow we need help in different ways, but it still stands that we need help, and there is absolutely no shame in that! While our family and friends are a great help, God really is the one who helps us the most. When we seek Him out He reveals himself to us and provides the help we need. This week look towards God, seek Him out, and He will help you. #psalms #help #god #hisgoodness #hisloveneverfails #postpartum

02.01.2022 Who else got a bunch of chocolate over the weekend? Now, I hope no one is feeling guilty for indulging over the Easter break, or googling how lon...g you need to run in order to lose all the calories you just consumed. If you got a whole heap of chocolate like I did and you want to be conscious of what you’re putting in your body and what it’s going to do to your body, read on. I would like to start by professing that I am in no way a nutrition specialist. I received minimal training in the area through my PT course, but I believe I’m smart enough to make some sound suggestions on the topic of egg consumption. Chocolate is a higher calorie, low volume (volume meaning the physical amount/mass) food that should be consumed sparingly to ensure you’re getting the right balance of nutrients in your diet. Basically, weight loss, gain and maintenance is determined by calories in and calories out. So if you eat more calories than your body needs you gain weight, if you eat less you lose weight and if you eat the right amount you’ll maintain your weight. Physical activity also impacts on calories out. Over the weekend you’ve likely eaten a decent amount of chocolate right? That’s totally cool! All you need to think about is the other calories you consume and the activity you engage in. Essentially all you need to do is eat some low calorie, high volume food (to help you feel full) like eggs (the chook kind), plenty of veggies, oats, and Greek style yoghurt are a couple of options, and potentially increase your NEAT. Remember that NEAT is Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis. Think doing the dishes, laundry, mowing the lawn, chasing kids, etc. So that’s it! No running for days to work off that giant egg you ate, just balance it out with low calorie, high volume foods and a bit of extra moving around
