24.01.2022 True love #FamilyForLife

23.01.2022 A Sunday morning reminder to make the most of every second we have..

23.01.2022 Cooler weather can often exacerbate the symptoms of arthritis in pets. Do you know how to identify the signs of arthritis? For dogs, often the first signs are a reluctance to rise in the morning and limping after exercise. For cats, look out for aggressiveness, reluctance to jump and reduced activity.

23.01.2022 Our pets seek warmth and comfort during the winter, with outdoor pets the most vulnerable to the cold. If your pets live outdoors, ensure they always have access to a dry, warm shelter. For dogs, try a raised kennel with bedding or a ‘cat den’ with warm bedding for cats. Consider bringing your outdoor pet into the laundry at night or giving your outdoor dog a coat to escape the cold.

21.01.2022 Did you know that large and small dogs age at different rates? Use this handy graph and tell us how old your dog is..

20.01.2022 As temperatures start to fall and the days grow shorter, it can be tempting to slow the number of daily dog walks. Despite the weather, it’s essential that your dog gets the exercise they need. Walks enrich your dog’s day and gentle ones are a big benefit to any pets suffering from arthritis. Make winter walks more comfortable by moving the walking window to the warmest part of the day, and investing in a warm, waterproof coat for your pet. Unless it’s raining, most dogs will still enjoy walking in winter.

20.01.2022 Mushrooms are popping up all over our gardens, parklands and bush. As dog owners this is especially relevant as mushrooms can be highly toxic to our furry best pals. Depending on the amount eaten, type of mushroom and length of time since eaten the signs of mushroom toxicity can vary but include; - Loss of balance or ataxia (walking as if drunk)... - Vomiting - Salivating - Yellowing of skin and eyes - Coma - Seizures If you know your dog has eaten mushrooms or if you notice any of the above, or other concerning signs, contact your nearest veterinarian immediately.

20.01.2022 For very obvious reasons, preventing accidental poisoning is always better than having to treat them..

18.01.2022 Any dog can get an ear infection but breeds with long ears and hairy ears, such as spaniels and terriers, are particularly susceptible. If you notice your dog shaking their head, pawing at their head or notice their ears are particularly smelly we’d recommend booking them in for a check with your local veterinarian.

17.01.2022 Covid-19 restrictions really are taking their toll on all of us..

13.01.2022 Protect your pets from cold weather..

12.01.2022 Oh hello.. #snackysnack

11.01.2022 Fifteen hours of calming music for your furry best friend. Whether it’s a storm or separation anxiety, background music can help your pet relax when they’re struggling with stress.

09.01.2022 Did you know that 50% of pet poisonings involve human medications? Always keep them well out of reach, just to be safe.

08.01.2022 Sometimes it’s just one of those days..

06.01.2022 ADVICE FOR PET OWNERS ON STORMY WEATHER With stormy weather set to continue over the coming days please ensure that your pets are safe and secure. Thunder, lightning and high winds can be very frightening, leading pets to potentially injuring themselves or even escaping from yards and quickly getting lost in a panic. If you’re home we recommend closing blinds or curtains as well as turning the television or radio up a little louder than usual. If your cat or dog has a favou...rite hiding place be sure to kit it out with pillows for extra warmth and comfort. Thunder jackets are also very calming for many dogs. If you’re not able to be at home then we highly recommend the following video on YouTube, the music is specifically designed to be calming for dogs and is mostly very effective. Turn this up high, make sure your pet is in a secure space with a comfy bed and this will help keep them as relaxed as possible. https://youtu.be/1OHEB41yRdU Lastly, two products that we highly recommend for our anxious patients. Feliway for cats and Adaptyl for dogs. Both come in a plug-in diffuser and easy to use spray. These are fantastically effective for most animals and are used by many of our own team. Speak with your local veterinarian about these options. Please share and help us keep as many of our pets as calm as possible.

05.01.2022 Boredom buster for your furry best buddy #2

02.01.2022 Introducing a new furry member to the family is both exciting and challenging. With this in mind we thought we’d touch on a few basic but vital tips for keeping them, and your furniture, safe in your house; Make sure that all cables and chords are tucked away safely Their food is sealed in containers and/or well out of reach Rubbish bins are sturdy and unable to be tipped over... Ensure your puppy has a couple of toys that they’re both allowed to and get satisfaction from chewing. Anytime they start chewing something they shouldn’t you can then encourage them to swap to these toys. We hope these help
