23.01.2022 As part of our ongoing efforts to support local businesses within the City, Blacktown City Council is working on an online interactive business directory to mak...e it easier for residents to shop locally and support their neighbourhood businesses. We are trialling this new service using the Riverstone and Schofields area, and we encourage all residents to click the link below and give us your feedback on the tool. Will this make you more likely to consider local businesses in future? How can we make it better? Check out the new directory map here http://www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au/businessfinder Please let us know what you think by emailing us at [email protected]

Your personal details will not be used for any other purpose and will be deleted after 28 as per government guidelines.

13.01.2022 If you’d like your daily coffee to do good as well as taste good, consider paying a visit to ‘If It Wasn’t For This Coffee’ café in Mount Druitt. The social e...nterprise venue opened in 2016 and operates out of Blacktown City Council’s Mount Druitt Hub, giving local at-risk youth professional barista, corporate catering and hospitality training. All profits help to fund programs run by the café’s operator, specialist community organisation Whitelion. Blacktown City Mayor Tony Bleasdale OAM recently met with some of the young people enrolled in Whitelion’s Hospitality Employment Program at the ‘If It Wasn’t for This Coffee (IIWFTC)’ café. The Hospitality Employment Program is open to young people living in Blacktown City aged between 15 and 25 who have experienced barriers to employment such as homelessness, leaving juvenile justice, experience in out-of-home care or long-term unemployment. Those who complete the 12-week program, run in conjunction with training provider Barringtons, come out with 36 shifts of work experience and a Certificate III in Hospitality. What a great initiative!
