25.01.2022 It was an honour to take the oath this morning to serve the people of Australia as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Defence.

25.01.2022 We listed these terrorist groups because they hate the west and want to destroy Australians and our way of life.

24.01.2022 I have supported WA's hard border. Leaders must make hard decisions to keep Australians safe. But these decisions often involve trade offs. And those trade offs have human costs. It is no small thing to deny an Australian citizen movement within Commonwealth borders. It should be done only in extremis.... The National Cabinet last week adopted a framework towards reopening by Christmas. I hope the Premier will honour the sacrifice of West Australians this year and take the same posture.

23.01.2022 I am gutted by BP's decision to close the Kwinana refinery. This is devastating for hundreds of workers. A strong Australia needs domestic refineries. I am writing to BP and the Minister for Energy, requesting briefings on the situation and what has happened.

21.01.2022 One of my constituents, Sylvia from Martin, sent me this superb wall hanging. She made it during the lockdown for ANZAC Day. Incredible craftsmanship. Thank you Sylvia, I’m grateful for your support!

21.01.2022 The Tiger has been an unmitigated disaster. Over my eight year period with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment and SASR, I never once had a Tiger fly in support of training or operations. In my first exercise with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment at Cultana in 2008, we had Tiger pilots ride in the back of our ASLAVs, simulating by voice reconnaissance and close air support. ... They couldn’t support us with actual Tigers. In 2013, I deployed with the Special Operations Task Group. We had US Apaches provide close air support in Afghanistan because our Tigers couldn’t deploy. It never once deployed to Afghanistan. Australian troops in Afghanistan instead relied upon Dutch and American attack helicopters for close air support. This is unacceptable and we can’t let it happen again.

20.01.2022 COVID-19 has caused the most severe economic crisis since the Great Depression. In response, the Morrison Government committed unprecedented support for millions of Australians. The Budget now sets out the Morrison Government’s economic recovery plan. ... Find out more at https://www.liberal.org.au/budget

17.01.2022 These upgrades will help Australia’s Collins Class submarine fleet maintain its superior edge in our region.

17.01.2022 We are soldiers, we are professionals, and we are Australians. We are committed to upholding the values of the Australian Defence Force. We believe in truth in reporting, moral courage and constant vigilance from the shadows in defence of Australia. We are the SASR. Who Dares Wins. Read the article before you comment. Then please share if you care about truth, courage and Australia’s special operators.

16.01.2022 A statement with my colleague, Anthony Byrne. The PJCIS will not be meeting with the Qatari Ambassador.

16.01.2022 I’ve sat with Australian Uyghurs whose family members have been locked up, disappeared or separated from them. All Australiansno matter their backgroundshould come together in condemning this persecution by the CCP. I will continue to speak out. We must stand together.

15.01.2022 We wish you a Merry Christmas!

14.01.2022 Michelle Boylan - Liberal for Murray-Wellington is exactly the kind of representative we need in the State Parliament. Join me in supporting Michelle, to help make sure she becomes the next member for Murray-Wellington.

14.01.2022 Australia Day is an opportunity to step back and examine the things we too often take for granted. What is it about Australia that we would do anything to defend? Is it your family? Is it your freedom? The principles we believe in? The fact you are free to speak your mind?... Not every country has what we have. It’s why hundreds of us have crossed the oceans just to live here. All these things, our family, our freedoms, our beautiful country; these things are not given so enjoy them! Not everyone in the world has what we have in our hands to enjoy. So relish every moment of this Australia Day.

11.01.2022 It was a privilege to welcome new Australians and recognise outstanding citizens along with WA Opposition Leader Zak Kirkup at a very special Australia Day ceremony this morning in Mandurah.

11.01.2022 This week I tabled the annual report of the PJCIS. Since June 2019 the committee has undertaken 15 inquiries and tabled 7 reports. Our work has covered counterterrorism, reforms to ASIO's powers, citizenship loss, the review of terrorist organisations, press freedoms, cyber security and more. Our work brings accountability and oversight to Australia's intelligence agencies. The committee takes its work very seriously - it is a privilege to serve the Australian people in this way.

09.01.2022 The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has today provisionally approved the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for use in Australia. The Pfizer vaccine has met Australia’s strict standards for safety, quality and efficacy. A priority group of Australians will soon be able to receive their first dose of the vaccine. This includes aged care and disability care residents and workers, frontline health care workers, and quarantine and border workers.... The first vaccinations are expected to be ready in late February. Find out more at https://www.pm.gov.au/media/pfizer-vaccine-approved

06.01.2022 The WA border is closed DESPITE health advice that we can open up. We can only assume that the Premier is gaslighting us for political reasons. He wants to win an election next year. We were behind him when it was about health. This is a breach of trust. ... How does the hard border negatively impact you? Your family? Your business? Your mental health? Please share below.

06.01.2022 LIVE: Press conference from Parliament House, Canberra.

06.01.2022 Today in the House I asked the Minister for Home Affairs Peter Dutton for an update on the Government's work in national security. This was his response on measures in last night's budget, including our commitments to counter terrorism, cyber security and child protection.

06.01.2022 On Sunday we honoured the men of the 2/2 Commando Squadron and the people of Timor Leste, who fought a significant resistance against the invading Japanese in 1942. The 2/2 were some of Australia’s first commandos - today’s Australian special forces have their origins in these units. The 2/2’s actions in Timor should be remembered as an Australian legend, alongside the heroic acts of our diggers at Gallipoli, Beersheba, Kokoda & Long Tan. ... 04.01.2022 The 2nd Independent Company were some of Australia’s first commandos. In 1942 they fought an incredible, year-long campaign against superior Japanese forces on the island of Timor. With the aid of the East Timorese, their resistance diverted thousands of Japanese troops that would have otherwise been sent to battlefields like Kokoda and Guadalcanal. Over 80 per cent of the 2/2's original soldiers were from Western Australia. This year I have begun a new award for schools in Canning - the Double Reds Resilience Award. The award takes its name from the company’s double red diamond insignia. It recognises students who have displayed a high degree of character and resilience during the school year in the face of adversity. Find out more at www.andrewhastie.com.au/doublereds

04.01.2022 It’s ADF soldiers, sailors and airmen who pay the price for dud defence acquisitions. This is exactly why I went to Parliament, along with former comrades like Phillip Thompson. We must do better at this. There are no points for second place on the battlefield.

04.01.2022 Australia faces many economic and strategic challenges in the decade ahead. I am confident Australia can meet these challenges, as we have before in our nation's history. It is an immense privilege to be invited to serve the Australian people in the role of Assistant Minister for Defence.... I am honoured by the Prime Minister’s confidence in me. I look forward to working closely with the Minister for Defence and the leadership of the Australian Defence Force. The Australian Defence Force is a vital institution in our life together as Australians. Its primary role is to defend our country and our values. My mission is that of every uniformed man and woman: to keep Australia safe.

04.01.2022 Premier, if the border isn’t closed for health reasons, why is it closed?

04.01.2022 Tough ride this morning with Fleet Cycles Mandurah riding group. I got dropped by the A group after 10 kms and joined forces with Jayden (RAN) and Shane (RAN vet). Great to spend time on the bike with an ADF family.

03.01.2022 We live in a dangerous world. This hostage rescue operation by US special forces overnight reminds us that we need our ADF to retain a world class special ops capability.

03.01.2022 Armistice Day reminds us that the battle for human freedom is ongoing. We must heed this lesson, so that Australian democracy remains vibrant and strong. Lest we forget.

01.01.2022 Back in Canberra for another fortnight of sittings. Proud to be wearing Fleet Cycles Mandurah colours on a ride today.

01.01.2022 #LIVE: An update on bringing Australians home.
