25.01.2022 Attended the AIMS bi-ennial conference in Sydney on Friday. The theme was "Raising the Standards " which reminded all who attended to do the best we can in the jnterests of our clients to maintain their faith and trust they place in us. Great to catch up with colleagues both old and new.

22.01.2022 Cunard's grand liner "Queen Elizabeth" during visit to Brisbane today. Will be great when a city such as ours as a dedicated cruise terminal capable of welcoming such graceful beauties of the seas.

21.01.2022 I have recently being accepted as a Full Member of the Marine Surveyors Association Inc. This association represents Marine Surveyors involved in small vessel surveys and those at the very vanguard of the pleasure craft and domestic commercial vessel sector of the Australian Marine Industry.

21.01.2022 I attended a Forum today put on by the Marine Surveyors Association. http://www.marinesurveyors.net.au/# The Forum is an annual event where the Association brings industry participants to discuss important issues facing Surveyors. The highlight of this years Forum was a presentation by world record holding ocean rower, Andrew Abrahams. Adam was the winner of Talisker Whiskey Solo Trans Atlantic Rowing Challenge held in 2013. His presentation regaled the audience with stories of human endurance of epic proportions as well as insights into the wonders of the marine world. I would encourage everyone who is interested in the commercial marine industry to attend the next forum and join like minded participants in sharing their experiences in our industry.

21.01.2022 Another beatuiful day at the office. The Brisbane River on a Friday. I was doing a survey on a marina pontoon system at Kangaroo Point. Something different.

17.01.2022 1600 mt sheerleg crane, "Asian Hercules", taken from the deck of the dredge, "Brisbane" in Singapore. Not the biggest in the regino, but stilll impressive given that it is lifting an accomodation block for a ship/jackup rig. This crane is owned by Asian Lift Pte Ltd, a joint venture between Keppel FELS and Smit Singapore, one of 5 sheerleg cranes the JV oeprates in Singapore.

14.01.2022 Watch out for some big changes in how ballast water is managed on inboard vessels into Australia. Expect a big increase in inspections and audits when the convention is ratified and put into action. http://splash247.com/shipowners-urge-imo-bring-clarity-bal/

12.01.2022 "Queen Victoria" arriving into Brisbane this morning. Photo taken from back deck of TSHD Brisbane on our way back into Brisbane. These vessels truly are magnificent. A great reminder of the halcyon days of the great ocean liners.

06.01.2022 I recently completed a on hire condition survey and a lashing survey for a cargo in Gladstone, Queensland that is a first for Queensland. These structures are called "Reef Temples" which are going to form a new artificial reef to be based off Little Woody Island at the northern entrance to the Great Sandy Straits in Hervey Bay, Queensland.

04.01.2022 AMSA have announced that they will no longer be issuing registration stickers for EPRIB units. There has been an issue with them and so AMSA will now require the owner of the EPIRB to retain proof of registration. This will be in the form of an email, sms message etc. AMSA have an on-line registration tool which allows EPRIB owner to register, change details etc. See the link below. http://beacons.amsa.gov.au/
