25.01.2022 And the weather is turning it on today. A bit blowy but so much better than last weekend. Not a photo from this morning (forgot to take a snap) but trust me, it looked just like that but with some puddles! Great to see some other parky peeps out there too. As Molly would say..... do yourself a favour....and get out there people. And......shout it, shout it, shout it out loud..... in the comments. Oh and if you do the distance, why not log it. Any old time, any old place..... #dftlynp

24.01.2022 Oh what a miserable, wet day for formerly parkrun day. Did you all manage to get out anyway? I did. Share your adventures in the comments. Love hearing about them, so do share. Enjoy your weekend all and don’t forget, if you managed to get out and about this week, log your (not)parkrun. If not, there is still time to log it this afternoon or even tomorrow. At last check Gardiners Creek have jumped out to a big early lead but Sunday seems to be HFp’s closing day so jump on it everyone.

24.01.2022 Greetings on this, hopefully significant Sunday morning in Melbourne. Significant for two reasons. 1. It's the last day to log your (not)parkrun for this week. HFp are still chugging along very nicely. Hanging on to our top 10 position nationally. 8th nationally two weeks ago with 35 and 10th last week with 32. Great work all. Its great to see so many getting out and consistently logging these activities. 2. Today/tonight hopefully Dan lets us off the leash a little more! The... 5k bubble has been interesting and it has been fun to explore our local neighbourhoods more but god, I can't wait to revisit some of my favourite spots. If he gives us 20km's (oh pretty pretty please) that brings in some of my favourites like the full circuit of Devilbend, Merricks Trail, Somers Beach and perhaps even the Quarry at Mount Eliza! Oh the joy. And what if he removes the radius entirely! That would bring me back to the Bay Trail, Two Bays trail, Seaford Loop, even Patterson River and The Dandenongs! Oh dare to dream! This week in the comments, play along and let everyone know the trails/tracks you are missing the most. Where will you head straight back to? Shall we call it a "tourist (not)parkrun"? Maybe even a favourite cafe for the post run coffee. Also remember if you aren't feeling the love, sing out to a fellow parkrunner. The event may not be operational but the community is always here. Stay safe and stay strong. Also remember to shout out in the comments below. #dftlynp

23.01.2022 May the fourth park run bonus pic.

21.01.2022 Merry mid-week HFp people. Last week we did it again. We logged 36 (not)park-runners which kept us firmly entrenched in the Top 10 yet again. Welcome aboard to Mick Duyvestyn and Niall Shearer, familiar names to our community who logged their first runs. Well done. Also, congratulations to the legends that notched up a pb. We had 3 of these. (Peter, Cath and Ray) Another item of note this week, I do know that quite a few of us have competed in the Casey Strides fun run seri...es in past years. Well, its on again. Don't let the Rona stop you from doing it again. Yes its on and its virtual. If you aren't up for the 1000km's of the Sydney to Melbourne virtual as per our last post, perhaps this one is for you. Check it out. It could be fun and its on this coming month. Stay safe all and if you haven't logged a (not)parkrun yet, jump to it. #dftlynp

21.01.2022 Fifty Two! All you legends out there in Hastings Foreshore parkrun land I salute you. Well done, Yes, we cracked the half century. A more famous 52 has not been achieved since 1989 on a Qantas Ashes flight to the Old Dart when a 5 foot 2 Tasmanian with flared pants wrote himself into the record books. Oh what an achievement. HFp continued to defy their size again last week in the (not)parkrun world. See attached for the run down of the top 10 in Australia. Note HFp in 6th p...lace. But when you adjust the list for (not)parkruns by average attendance (refer to last weeks post) we come in at a very healthy number 2. The revised top 10: 1. Inverloch 90% 2. Hastings Foreshore 58% 3. Westerfolds 55% 4. Kennington Reservoir 48% 5. Ballarat 43% 6. Wyndham Vale 30% 7. Albert Melbourne 22% 8. Gardiners Creek 20% 9. Karkarook 18% 10. The Ponds 13% As you can see, a mighty effort by The HFp community. Its great to see everyone out there and logging to stay connected. Another massive effort by Inverloch too. Amazing numbers. A big welcome to the 3 newcomers this week. Great to have Tim Acreman, Tracy Brown and Sean Fox join in. Also a big cheer to the 15 people that notched PB's. See the attached list for a full run down. If you get out there again this week make sure you log the (not)parkrun again to keep the good work going. Well done to the 3 that have done so already. Cheers Please note that HFp does not condone the number of cans consumed by Mr. Boony and urge people to drink responsibly! Stay safe and stay connected...... #dftlynp

21.01.2022 "Another Mt M parkrun shuffle completed this morning... no PB but still happy " Yes, our HFp tragic Anne Huggins leading from the front again this morning. Inspirational as always Anne. Get out there everyone. ... Run, walk, sprint, yoga, cycle, skate, crawl.....it doesn't matter, just let us all know what where how and why. Also, a parkrun I haven't done yet but would love to. Especially in this frosty weather. Do you know where it is? Hint.......it too is an industrial harbour with a combination of sitting atop our necks and not at sea.

20.01.2022 Memories.........

20.01.2022 Happy Iso Friday night HFp people. Huge congratulations on the 15 Hastings people that logged their (not)parkrun last week. We threw down the challenge to Rosebud and guess what? We won. They only logged 14! Woohoo. A bit of fun, but lets see if we can continue the dominance by keeping the newcomers where they belong. In our shade! Its easy. Just log in to your parkrun profile and follow your nose to log the run. Any run from last Monday to this Sunday qualifies. Jump on it. Run, walk stagger or crawl. Whatever form it takes as long as you get out there. From everyone here at parkrun Hastings, Happy Friday and stay safe.

20.01.2022 Here we are again, another week without parkrun. However there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel, with some restrictions being lifted and New Zealand announcing they are starting up again. No word from Aus yet but we will let you all know the moment we hear something. Until then, post your activities in the comments. We love to hear all about them. #notparkrun Also, in my recent series of guess the parkrun, topically this one is from across the ditch. 4 photos, on the trail, at the finish line, from above and then another on the trail. Have a guess. Enjoy

19.01.2022 Greetings HFp people. We hope you all got out and got active to celebrate Hasting's 6th Birthday last weekend. Perhaps even logged a 5k plod in the (not)parkrun movement. Hastings experienced massive growth here from our sole representative (thanks Monica....awesome) in week 1 to 9 representatives last week. Jump on people, its easy. As long as you can remember your parkrun number (its on your barcode starting with A) and the tricky bit, your password, you can then log your r...un on your parkrun profile. Do it. It smarts a little that both weeks so far we have been bested by that young upstart from the other side of the peninsula, Rosebud. If you didn't see this weeks newsletter, we also are delighted to see parkrun now partnering with World Athletics. read about it here https://www.parkrun.com//new-partnership-with-world-athle/ or here https://www.insidethegames.biz//world-athletics-parkrun-pa A great idea wethinks. If you also have a look at the photo attached you can see the handy work of our own fabulous Toni Newling. Not the injured creaky old knees, but the amazing heat packs. HFp have been giving away sets of these made by Toni and I can vouch for their effectiveness. Thanks a million Toni. You are awesome. We are holding a couple of packs for the following people who managed to outsmart us on our whereis parkrun posts lately. they are: Tim Baldwin for getting Cairns, Keren Tindley for getting Port Hedland Julie Hopton for getting Mount Beauty and Helen Vermuelen for getting Wanaka. Congrats guys. Please drop us a meessage and the next time you are in Hastings or the next time one of us are in your neighbourhood we can drop them in. You won't regret it. Till tomorrow, stay safe, stay active and let us all know how you go. We love hearing about it right here, same bat time (sort of), same bat channel. You don't even have to remember your barcode!

18.01.2022 If you haven't seen it yet, worth checking out. Stay safe Hastings peeps.

18.01.2022 A couple of the HFp crew getting it done this morning. All masked up and ably supported by the canine crew! If you have managed a 5 k of any sort this week don’t forget to log your (not)parkrun. Stay safe and have a great weekend.

18.01.2022 A sprinkle of rain, a couple of laps...... yep, (not)parkrun at Hastings Foreshore. Good to see a few people out including a couple of tragics and their human companions logging their (not)parkruns for the week. Have you done yours yet. Don’t forget and hope everyone gets to enjoy Father’s Day in whatever way they want or can. Fingers crossed Victoria. #dftlynp

18.01.2022 Great work yet again Anne. Well done on a pretty average morning weather wise.

15.01.2022 Happy 6th Birthday Hastings Foreshore parkrun.

15.01.2022 What a spectacular weekend of (not)parkrun we just had. In a huge upset, Albert Melbourne have been pipped for first place with the most participants by Inverloch parkrun! Fantastic effort by Inverloch logging 48 to beat Albert Melbourne by a solitary runner. Super numbers. Closer to home, this bumped Hastings Foreshore off the podium although in a superb showing we listed our highest number yet. We logged 38 runners with Gardiners Creek parkrun hanging on to third, again by... a solitary runner, logging 39. Great work by everyone involved. Love the numbers we are seeing. There may be some repercussions though. In this household I know of a certain runner that "forgot"to log his run. Not Happy Jan....... Westerfolds rounded out the top 5 with 28. Congratulations to everyone that got out there on a pretty miserable weekend. Terrific job. And again congratulations to Inverloch. If you are down that way you must give it a go. A beautiful run along the beach. Back to HFp. See attached the list (had to break it into two, we had that many!) of the legends that got out there. We had 8 first timers and 6 returning runners logging PB's. As Monty Burns would say.....excellent. Happy running and walking people. Make sure you get out there and make the most of your hour of power per day. Perfect for 5 km's or so. Although, you may want to do it today. Magnificent weather outside my window. Cheers and #dftlynp See more

15.01.2022 Nice fresh not parkrun this afternoon. Jumping puddles and dodging the rain was on the cards today.

14.01.2022 The weather has taken a step back this morning. Yes, back to winter. Who got out during the week while the weather was good and who waited until the weekend and paid the price? Who was a complete tragic and did both!? (yes....guilty)... Can we top the 42 people that logged a (not)parkrun last week which once again saw us sitting firmly in the national top 10? A bit late but a massive welcome to the (not)parkrun fold to Emma Jones who logged her first. Well done Emma. A number of super-quick times last week as well with no less than 14 personal bests! Outstanding. Let us know in the comments. Anne Huggins, you are forgiven as once again you have beaten me to the press. Anne logs every week and did just that once again with a home run in Mount Martha. Thanks for letting us know and you are a legend. Week in week out. Stay safe and stay strong....#dftlynp

14.01.2022 How fabulous was our turnout for our Virtual 6th Birthday Celebrations? Some parkrunners were still thinking of us and completed their run/shuffle/walk at various locations such as Hastings Foreshore, Mornington, Mt Eliza, Hamilton Lake and NSW. It was good to see everyone following the social distancing rules as well as the tutu pics and party hats. Below is the list of those that sent us their 5k HFp 6th Birthday times.....Congratulation to all our Finishers. We look forwar...d to our 7th Birthday shindigs and hope it will be our usual Celebratory event with the breakfast of champions ie: bacon and egg rolls as well as coffees to wash it all down. Have a fabulous week everyone and thank you for taking part in this very unusual HFp for 2020. 1 Mike Thomas 18.23 2 Richard Dawe 19.15 3 Helen Vermeulen 26.10 4 Trevor Tomalin 28.10 5 Rhonda Stafford 29.46 6 Jane Piotrowski 30.49 7 Joanne Malloy 31.42 8 Kim Schneider 31.56 9 Cindy Smith 32.11 10 Ian Fergurson 32.31 11 Richard McMahon 34.59 12 Ray Schneider 35.28 13 Cath Scott 35.49 14 Anne Huggins 35.57 15 Peter Carlin 39.50 16 Michelle Mullins 44.21

13.01.2022 It was warm and windy on the foreshore this morning. Ideal for a lazy 5k's. By yourself, with a friend or two, or even better with your canine companions. Warm enough even for a dip in the mangroves?!? I hope they were running home. That mangrove paste is not pleasant on the back seat of the Oldsmobile. We got out and logged our (not) parkruns, pining for the gathering at the shelter. Trotting past the start line reminiscing about Saturday mornings past. Hopefully not too lon...g now, numbers are looking better and great to see Tassie is re-starting. Good luck to the Apple Isle. Anyway, enough waffle from me. I hope you all got out there this week and did your thing. Would love to hear about it again. Stay strong and stay safe all and #dftlynp.

13.01.2022 Greetings all. Hastings foreshore (not)parkrun update for yet another week of lock-down. Yes, we punched out another top 10 national finish last weekend with 41 participants. Great effort everyone. If you haven't got on board yet, no problem. Just log in to your profile on the national parkrun website and batta bing, batta boom! There it is. Among last weeks 41 finishers we had 2 newcomers logging their first effort. Well done to Wayne Liddell and Michele Sabto. Awesome to w...elcome you to this community. We also had 10 people notch a (not)parkrun PB. Smashing it guys. Kudos. If you move in similar circles to me, you may have noticed a bit of chatter on the socials during the week with another virtual event kicking off at stupid o'clock Wednesday night. Yes, an homage to the Aussie icon Cliff Young. There appears to be a virtual Sydney to Melbourne run happening at the moment and a number of regular HFp people have signed up. Yes, 1000km's of running to be logged and they have until New Years to complete it (100 days). We look forward to following along on the website and a heartfelt good luck from us at HFp. We hope to see some tired, happy faces on New Years Day. Oh the things people do when the dreaded Covid induced boredom kicks in. Good Luck. For the mathematically minded out there, thats 10km every day from now until NYD. I wonder how many will also take the opportunity to log 7 (not)parkruns in the one week? Don't forget to log your (not)parky for this week, and if you feel like letting us know, please fire away in the comments below. We do love to read all about it. Stay safe and stay strong everyone. #dftlynp

12.01.2022 And just in case you didn’t realise, thanks to our very own parky legend and LEGO talent Mike Thomas for tonight’s entertainment. Thanks Mike.

10.01.2022 And that's a wrap for (not)parkrun for another week. Fantastic effort by Hastings Foreshore peeps yet again. 41 legends got out there last week in some of the most miserable Melbourne weather we've seen this winter. And that is saying something. Of the 41, 12 recorded personal bests for their (not)parkrun career and we also had 7 brave souls join our crazy ranks. Welcome to Sean Crouch, Stacey Does, Ian Collinge, Tim Baldwin, Samantha Elliot, Rachael Pearson and Jane Houston.... Great to have you all on board. To the national leaderboard. As can be seen from the attachment, we seem to be sliding down the list a little. Still top 10 but coming in at number 6 behind some bigger parkruns that are finally showing up. Still super proud of our numbers so I thought we should talk average attendance. Yes, average attendance gives a pretty good indication of the size of a parkrun. On the top 10 list, HFp is the smallest parkrun coming in with an average weekly attendance of 89.8 participants. We logged 41 (not)parkrunners so simple maths gives us a turn-out of 46% in comparison to non covid times. Are you with me? Pretty darn good if I do say so. So lets re-do the top 10 shall we? 1: Inverloch - 68% of 104.3 average attendance 2: Westerfolds - 48% of 144.1 3: Hastings Foreshore - 46% of 89.8 4: Wyndham Vale - 30% of 101.8 5: Coburg - 26% of 100.3 6: Gardiners Creek - 22% of 206.1 7: Albert Melbourne - 20% of 276 8: Karkarook - 17% of 179 9: Rhodes - 13% of 235.7 10: The Ponds - 11% of 374.4 Yes, that's better. We are back on the podium! Take care all, and don't forget to log your (not)parkrun again this week. #dftlynp

10.01.2022 The unofficial Peninsula parkrun Cup is again going down to the wire. It’s another tight one with the reigning cup holders Hastings currently on 22 but Rosebud parkrun breathing down their necks on 20! What will the rest of today bring? Go HFp! Great work to everyone that has taken the time to register. You’re all winners.

10.01.2022 Great work Bill. Agreed, it was a little damp underfoot!

09.01.2022 Procrastinating at work this morning, I came across..... How good is this? Our own Michelle Mullins smashing a certain runner along with Analia Shearer nipping at his heels! Who might this running celebrity be? Yes, Fathers Day Warrior run on Strava. Another excuse to get out and run around in September. Like you needed one! Don't forget, another week in lock down, another chance to log a (not)parkrun. #dftlynp

08.01.2022 Good morning Hastings Foreshore parkrun people......who's going to help us celebrate our big 6th Birthday Virtual style tomorrow. Don't forget...run walk shuffle your 5k anytime tomorrow, let us know the time with proof from your watch or phone app and we'll show you as a Birthday parkrun finisher. Optional dress up, but word has it a particular Vollie will be at the Foreshore tomorrow at parkrun time in her fave tutu. As we have also had to forgo our Birthday bash of Bacon ...and Egg rolls we'd love to see pics of your celebratory post (not)parkrun brekkies (and coffees, can't forget the coffees) Wishing you all a fabulous Virtual HFp Birthday Celebration. xxxx ps: please also adhere to all social distancing regulations whilst conducting your run walk shuffles.

08.01.2022 Happy weekend HFp people. It’s time to get up and at ‘em. (Not)parkrun is calling. See a great photo of the HFp home taken this morning by our own Jacqui Shannon. Also a snap of the 27 legends that got us a tie with Rosebud last week. Can we go one better this week? Don’t forget to log your activity and even shout out and let us know about it in the comments. Take care all.

07.01.2022 Yes, like the 2010 AFL grand final..... it was a draw! 27 (not)parkrun’s a piece. Take a bow everyone, both HFp and Rosebud peeps. And again, as in 2010 we will have to back up again this week. Go get ‘em everyone. (Not)parkrun can be logged any time from today until Sunday. Again congratulations. That is 54 participants on the peninsula. Huge!

07.01.2022 Another week of (not)parkrun has been run and done. Records were set all round. Inverloch continued their streak at the top of the table with a massive 86 participants. Westerfolds and Albert Melbourne chased them in with 65 and 61 respectively and then HFp smashed out a new record of 44! Sensational and well done to everyone that got out there. For once we managed to turn the tables on Gardiners Creek and surpassed them by one. Yes, usually it's the other way around, so it i...s very nice to finally be on the correct side of that rivalry. Top 5 again. HFp had 7 first timers join in, so a big welcome to Owen Thompson, Colleen White, Alice and Adam Horan, Duane Younger, Mick Jaensch and Cath Collinge. Great work in getting out and representing our humble little parkrun. Next week they can aim to join the next little group, those that set pb's. Yes, 12 HFp runners/walkers also set personal bests. See the attached lists to check out who managed to get out there and see who managed to do it in record time. It's kind of nice being able to set pb's again. Remember, start out easy and bring the time in gradually. That way we can grab glory each week for as long as possible. No big surges (yes, looking at you Richard Dawe! ) Speaking of pb's, at a meet in Monaco over the weekend, the subject of the third attachment to this post is Jessica Hull. Jess is an 18yo Australian runner who ran a track 5k and set a personal best of 14:43.80! This managed to lower her personal mark by 16.52 seconds as well as setting a new Australian record in the process. Amazing and congratulations Jess. Just a little bit of inspiration to drag our miserable backsides out the door this coming week/weekend as I do believe the weather is not going to be pretty. Remember to make sure everyone gets out there and does their thing. Oh, and if you do the yards, you may as well log it as a (not)parkrun. Take care and #dftlynp See more

05.01.2022 Great work ladies. Good to get out and about.

04.01.2022 Another weekend done and another episode of (not)parkrun completed. Awesome work by the 27 HFp people that got out and logged the proof. See attached for the run down of names. Also take note of the 2 first timers new to the fold and the large number of pb's. Great work. This week HFp came tied for 3rd in Australia for the number of parkrunners participating. Once again Albert Melbourne topped the list. The top 5 were: Albert Melbourne 54 Gardiners Creek 40... Hastings Foreshore 27 Rhodes 27 Inverloch 24 Maribyrnong 24 Great work on the other side of the Peninsula too. Not much further down the list with 19 Rosebud regulars getting out and smashing it too. Well done. We hope everyone enjoys their week and don't forget. If you get out and do 5.....log it.

03.01.2022 Hastings LEGO park run part 3. Finish line.

03.01.2022 Following last nights LEGO inspiration, let everyone know what we did, how and where we did it today. And for bonus points.... where is this parkrun? Happy not-parkrun day people.

03.01.2022 Happy Friday HFp people. Have you got out for this weeks (not)parkrun yet? I have! Last week was massive. Not only did we see a Tigers and a Storm win but 48 legends got out and logged a (not)parkrun to get us back into the top 5 nationally. Not quite up to Inverloch's standard who managed to log 175 to celebrate their 6th birthday, but hey, still a great effort by all and sundry. Congratulations to Inverloch too. Top 3 internationally I believe! Fantastic. It was also grea...t to see 14 Hastingites log pb's. Better than 25% of runners. We had 2 newcomers in Dennis Smith and Susan Cross log their first runs too. Welcome aboard guys. Hope to see lots more of you. Both virtually and when we eventually rock up to the Foreshore en-masse again. Can't be too far away can it? In the meantime, stay safe, stay strong and #dftlynp Oh, and have a brag let us all know how you've gone this week in the comments below.

03.01.2022 What a cold and wet morning it was out there this morning. But doesn’t it make the shower an almost religious experience! And the coffee......... mmmmmmm. And the bean bag! Well done to everyone that got out there this week and to anyone contemplating it this weekend, just do it! Oh, and if you’ve made the effort, you might as well log the (not)parkrun. Stay safe all and don’t be shy, let us know how and where you went. #dftlynp

02.01.2022 And so it was run and done. Yes, Hastings are the proud owner of the Peninsula parkrun Cup! Well done everyone who took part in (not) parkrun this week. Massive effort by both HFp and Rosebud. The numbers: Hastings had 33 take part while Rosebud had 24. A resounding win but sensational numbers by both events. I think this was only bettered by Albert Park in all of Australia! Remember you can get out there any time during the week or the weekend. ... I notice there were plenty of PB's too. - (not)parkrun PB's that is. As Nike suggests...."just do it" but we shall add...."and log it"! Take care all. See more

01.01.2022 Happy Monday HFp peoples, we trust you are all well and taking care of yourselves at this time. Did anyone remember that it is our Birthday this coming Saturday?....... Yep, we're the big 6. And although we are unable to dress up, celebrate and indulge in our annual BBQ of bacon and egg rolls we can still get out and run our (not)parkrun 5k.... What we would like to see is your 5k time and selfie photos (maybe even your post parkrun brekkie of bacon and eggs) send it to us via a post that we will send out on Friday. You can walk/shuffle/run this anywhere at any time on our Birthday, but it must be done within the Government's Health Guidelines of social distancing. We will gather all the finishers times and publish them on Sunday for all to see. The Hastings Foreshore Core Volunteer team think of you all often and we cannot wait to see you all again at the Rotunda. Have fun, enjoy your 5k, eat hearty and Happy 6th Birthday celebrations to everyone.

01.01.2022 A quick shout out to see who has managed to get out this week or weekend. Post in the comments, we love to hear all about it. Stay safe all and if you are looking for a bit of inspiration, see this guy in the UK. . Cue the comments about shrinkage and the like...... #dftlynp

01.01.2022 And that's a wrap for another week of (not)parkrun. HFP, punching way above our weight have come in a clear 3rd in Aus with 35 participants. Great work everyone. Super effort on yet another podium finish. Not too far behind Gardiners Creek! Rosebud also tallied a very respectable 18. Well done there as well. The top 5 this week were:... Albert Melbourne: 43 Gardiners Creek: 38 Hastings Foreshore: 35 Westerfolds: 28 Inverloch: 26 Solid numbers. See attached pic of the legends that took part and boosted us up towards 2nd. And now that our local parkrun just got a whole lot more local. Lets do it again. Stay safe all and happy hour long exercising.
