The state champs are at Moonee Valley and to ride around that race track in front of a crowd is an amazing experience. Huge bonus to those who love the XC teaches you how to pace and hit that optimum time

13.01.2022 In July this year our hearts were broken. An unexplainable accident shattered the world of a beautiful family, their friends and everyone who was lucky enough to have had their lives touched by the divine Teagan Mann. Our special Pony Club community will miss her and cherish her memory forever. On behalf of Hastings Pony Club and our whole community we offer this tribute video of Teagan's happy times at Pony Club with her beautiful horse Gabby. She left us doing what she l...oved, we will never be able to understand it but we are so grateful to have known you Teags, your warmth, your infectious smile and your endless capacity to love every creature, big or small. 12.01.2022 Turn on the (FREE) light Are you putting up with gloomy sheds and tack rooms, or saddling up outside in the dark these cold mornings and evenings? Have you ente...red the competition to win one of four $1300 solar lighting kits from Sonaray Equestrian? There's been some great entries coming in, but there's still time to be in the running. Here's the details again: To celebrate the release of a new solar, off grid lighting system, equestrian lighting specialist Sonaray Australia is offering Pony Club members the chance to win one of four DIY Solar Lighting Kits - with each kit valued at $1300! The Obi Solar Light Bar Kit is four times brighter than traditional fluros and runs for six hours on a fully charged battery. It is ideal to illuminate your stables, sheds, garages, or workshops. Sonaray Equestrian has designed this product based on the needs of rural farmers who wanted a sustainable off grid lighting approach that is bright and robust, so it’s perfect for equestrians too. All you have to do is: 1. Like and follow the Sonaray EQUESTRIAN Facebook page 2. Like this Post 3. Comment here, with the answer to this question - if you won this Solar Obi light kit, how would you benefit from it? 4. AND, if you can, post a photo of where you’d install this powerful, off grid lighting system around your home, shed or stables. We know with winter coming and less daylight, it won’t be hard to find somewhere that needs a bright solar light. Perhaps you have no power near your tackroom or horse wash or shed? You may even choose to enter and win one for your Pony Club. Entries close at the end of June. Winners will be notified through direct message on Facebook and have the kit delivered free to their address. Once installed Sonaray Equestrian would like to get some photos and feedback sent in from the four winners. #solarlights #solarenergy #solarpower #solarenergyaustralia #diylight #solarlighting #signagelights #safetylights #backyardlights #garagelights #ledlights #offgridledlights #equestrianlighting #horsearena #sustainablelighting #offgridliving #tackroomlights

11.01.2022 Pause to Remember On Remembrance Day 2020, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we pause for a minute’s silence to remember those who sacrificed ...so much in war for our peace and safety. It is fitting we remember our wonderful Walers too during WW1 Australia committed around 130,000 horses and New Zealand over 8,000. The term ‘Waler’ was first used by the British in India referring to those horses that were bred in the colony of New South Wales. By 1867, the Waler had developed a reputation as one of the finest cavalry horses in the world, and battles like the charge of the Lighthorse at Beersheba in 1917 made legends internationally of our homebred, outback-toughened horses. Their feats of endurance and bravery on the battlefield during WWI are hard to imagine the horses often did not drink for days and had limited food rations and they proved tougher than camels in the desert. There were also artillery horses, the pushers and pullers, often the unsung heroes of the battle ground. Daisy and Belle were a pair of Walers who saved their driver, a man named Banks, when he fell into a shell-hole and became stuck in the mud. No one was around so Banks called out to his two trusty horses. ‘Here Daisyhere Belle’ Then ‘Left DaisyBack girl, back!’ Daisy came to the rescue by turning her rear towards her master until he could grab a hold of her tail. Using all her strength, she gently pulled Banks free. (Forgotten heroes: the Australian Waler Horse, pp. 49-50). Sadly only one horse returned to Australia. The horse, named Sandy, belonged to Major General William Bridges who was killed at Gallipoli. After the war Sandy spent the rest of his days out to graze at the Central Remount Depot at Maribyrnong, Vic. For ANZAC Day this year, we invited Pony Club members to send in photos of their 'Driveway Tributes' during COVID-19 lockdown. You may enjoy viewing it again on this special day. https://youtu.be/2W0B84ztKp0 #walers #pcaremembranceday #australianwalers #remembranceday Photos: Victorian Art Gallery, Murrumbateman Pony Club, Australian War Memorial.

08.01.2022 if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all I think this saying means a lot, not only in general life but the horse world too. Far too often ...I see riders being degraded on social media, their training methods and income questioned. I see amateur ( young up and coming riders) riders degrading others training efforts. ‘If someone is putting you down they are threatened by your position’ this rings true when you look at the people actually putting you down, but rather than going down to their level you must keep your head tall. Just because people want to put you down you do not have to follow. Be morally strong with how you respond. If you see someone doing something incorrect- help them, Suggest a different way. If you see someone struggling- help them. No matter your position in life you can always help someone. You are your own person, you don’t need to prove anything to anyone. The next time you see someone get a new horse, don’t be negative, ask them questions about the horse The next time you’re at a horse show and you see someone jumping the wrong way of the flags, help them. Teach them in a short brief that everyone jumps the fence one way. The next time you see someone crying in a lesson, help them. Don’t put them down, make them feel safe. This should be a safe haven where we all support each other. Let’s grab our reins together and support each other See more
