25.01.2022 Once again the 3rd Umpire (the weather) has called it and our running day for today , Saturday 8th February is CANCELLED! We hate to disappoint our passengers but more heavy rain and storms are forecast for today and it’s very wet under foot in the park at the moment. On a positive note the park is starting to green up beautifully after this long dry spell. We hope you enjoy this much needed rain also!

Please remember - all passengers must wear enclosed shoes when riding on the trains. Also, with the recent rain there’s mozzies about in the park so you might want to bring some insect repellent. You will find us at Yippen Reserve on the corner of Beechwood Rd and Yippen Creek Rd. Bring your family and friends! See you there!

21.01.2022 Much awaited update: the little trains will run today, Saturday 12th as long as the weather is kind to us. The reserve has had some much needed rain and it’s a bit damp underfoot but hopefully we’ll see you soon . Thanks everyone for your patience

17.01.2022 Once again, this Saturday’s monthly running day (13 June) has been CANCELLED due to the ongoing restrictions around COVID-19 and safe distancing. We are continuing to review the changes as they occur to ensure the safety of our members and our passengers. As you can imagine no one misses running our awesome little railway more so than our own members so we are all hopeful that restrictions will continue to ease which will allow us to recommence our activities for everyone as soon as possible.

17.01.2022 UPDATE for August: Unfortunately with the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions around physical distancing, we will have to CANCEL the Saturday 8th August running day. The safety and well-being of our members and passengers is so important and we’re really looking forward to the day we’re up and running again!

16.01.2022 Update on our track expansion project: Planning and survey works are now full steam ahead as we continue to move forward. Last Tuesday morning our project team met with Port Macquarie Hastings Council’s Parks & Open Space Co-ordinator, Trent Arnold to review the detailed plans and inspect where the tracks will be placed.... Even though it was raining, this hasn’t dampened our enthusiasm to get the earthworks and track construction underway. We are extremely grateful for the support we have received from Trent and the Port Macquarie Hastings Council and look forward to working together into the future. #portmacquariehastingscouncil

15.01.2022 UPDATE for 2020: At our last meeting, sadly our club members made the difficult decision to CANCEL the remainder our 2020 running days, including today 10 October and school holidays. We are however continuing to review the COVID-19 restrictions around physical distancing and we will post any updates so please check our Facebook page for news of any changes.... Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding over the past six months or so and we all look forward to when we can recommence our running days. Please keep safe.

11.01.2022 Project Update: The 13th-14th January saw the beginning of some major earthworks at Wauchope Yippin Creek Railway. Over the two days we had some 223 tons or roughly 140 cubic metres of fill (scalps) delivered into the park to build up the area where the new track will be placed. None of this would be possible so far without the generous support of some of our local people and businesses and for which we are extremely grateful: Rick Gleeson - Sales Manager for Northern NSW... Quarries for HY-TEC (a local quarry and cement batching supplier). Rick has been very helpful in working with us to coordinate the delivery of the scalps to coincide with arrangements we had made with the earth movers. Jason the delivery truck driver did a great job in unloading the scalps where it was easy for Nick to spread the material. Nick Kennedy - owner of NSK Earth Works with assistance of his Posi-Trak loader and his Father, Mick, did a great job moving and spreading the scalps. The Posi-Trak loader did in two days what would have taken much longer for us to manually move that amount of material! Nick’s skill on the Posi-Trak meant he got the grade nearly perfect at 1.6% Port Macquarie Hastings Council Parks and Gardens have been very helpful in allowing us to proceed with the work in such a timely manner. So what happens now? The engineering drawings, cutting lists and plans for the new track sections are completed and we will commence manufacturing of the track. 07.01.2022 The pride of our fleet The Countess has been out of service for quite a while now undergoing stringent maintenance, repairs and a fair bit of polishing. This morning all that changed! Following months of thorough checks and tests and a few final test runs, boxes were ticked and this morning she was back out on the tracks and she hasn’t missed a beat! Thanks to the hard work and expertise of Ray Wilkinson, Eric Whitmore and ALL of our Hastings Valley Miniature Railway Soci...ety members it’s great to have her back on the tracks. Running around today we also had our other Club loco e-Barry as well as Paul’s steamer and Sandy’s little electric locomotive. The weather has been spot on and it’s been a fantastic day for everyone.

03.01.2022 Following the recent announcements by the Australian Government around the process required to contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) our Members have made the very hard but inevitable decision to CANCEL our 11th April 2020 running day. At this stage we are unable to say if our May 2020 running day will be affected so please check our Facebook page for updates. Thank you all for your understanding during these very uncertain times and we hope we can recommence our activities again as soon as possible.

03.01.2022 Our little Railway has some exciting times ahead!! Although we made the decision back in September to cancel the remainder of our running days for 2020, that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped working completely. Our members have been working over the last few months to survey and design the next phase of our track expansion project. At our meeting last Saturday members spent time to review the proposed layout, and to discuss the best track forward (the pun is intended, sorry!) Ma...nufacturing of the new track should commence in the very near future. We are also very happy to announce that as a result of hard work by several of our members we have been successful in obtaining a Community Grant from Port Macquarie Hastings Council. The grant will enable us to bring forward the commencement of our track expansion project and we would like to thank the Council for their support.
