25.01.2022 Pattern is almost resolved for this little hat. It’s so cute! The brim is double knit so is nice and thick and you don’t have to worry about the brim folding down! I’m thinking I might make this available with or without a pom pom. It’ll be available in a few different colours all 100% wool and later this month the pattern will be available too! 24.01.2022 Trial and error seems to be the theme for this week. It’s a whole lot of trial and error with a sassy 3 year old running around and me pretending that I know what I’m doing and how to handle this kid. It’s hard to keep a level voice when everything I say gets ignored or opposed or turned into a toddler tantrum like no other. I’m sleep deprived, constantly worried my parenting isn’t good enough and now I’ve got a cold, icing on the cake really! None of this makes me hate being... a mum or want to run away it’s just me acknowledging that it’s a shit time right now and I probably need a change of tactic to work out this little threenager! 24.01.2022 Can’t believe it’s so cold again. First things first, due to an overwhelming amount of requests this stargazer hat is now available in newborn and 3-6 month sizes. Please note that because of the weigh of these hats and a teeny baby head there is no turned up brim in the two smallest sizes, they are just too chunky for newbies. But they are still amazing. 23.01.2022 We are covid-19 free here at @hats_for_little_humans both physically and mentally. I’ve wiped the slate clean. Turned off all posts and media about corona and unplugged from it all. Yesterday I had a panic attack in woolies because someone was standing right up on me and when I asked them to move back they called me an idiot and laughed. I don’t know what it is but I felt so raw seeing businesses shut and some of the staff in the supermarket looking completely exhausted, unsu...re and worried. I’ve decided that this will be the only post I do to talk about the situation because I need some space from it. This is my tiny slice of peace and space and I’m using it to have fun, share my creations and connect with all of you incredible people. I am not naive, I appreciate the gravity of our situation and chose to keep my family home in self isolation for the last three weeks (and for how long it’ll take). I’ve seen some strength and stupidity these last few weeks and it’s just the beginning here I’m WA. So just wash your hands and stay home okay? 08.01.2022 Hey! I’m Helena and I’m the knitter behind Hats for Little Humans. It’s been a while since I introduced myself so while I have spent today updating the website I thought I should reintroduce myself! I’m an interior architect and I also run an interior design studio focusing on high end residential work. I’m married to Simon who is an Architect. I have a 3.5 year old little girl called Ivy, who is the whole reason this little space was created. I learned my skills from my nan,... who was the most incredible woman. She was a seamstress and designer, she could knit or sew absolutely anything and had so much patience with me when she was teaching me to knit. She did, however always make me undo my knitting if it wasn’t neat enough or I made a mistake, which is why I can’t bare to have even the slightest hiccup in my knitting (drives me insane). I’m a perfectionist I don’t like shortcuts and everything has to be done precisely to the letter! I LOVE maths, the harder the mental maths the better, maybe I should’ve worked with that strength . I drink a lot of coffee which probably makes my anxiety worse. I do CrossFit and right now I’m missing the gym even tho I have the most amazing gym who have programmed everything online for us, I just miss getting away from the house ( @grandstandcrossfit ). I love hanging with my gal friends most and our Saturday nail dates. I do rose, bubbles, whiskey, gin and tequila, no vodka! 05.01.2022 Hello! Okay I’m back! The last 5 months have been full on! After we moved into our new house last year, a whole lot of things happened. My other business @helenanikolainteriorstudio really took off and I didn’t have space to keep working on @hats_for_little_humans , so I switched this little space off. BUT, 2020 has kicked off with a bang, sure I’m still completely swamped with my interior design business but I’ve realised that this little business allows me to have some time... for myself - which is pretty rare as a mum to a 3 year old who only goes to pre kindy 2 days a week This year @hats_for_little_humans will be slightly different. I’ll be releasing a small collection of neutral hats - think pumpkin spice, buttercream, cinnamon, and latte - as well as a few colour combos. There will be only 1 available in each size, but adult hats will be made to order (as has been hotly requested). There will also be my rainbow mobiles & a select few rainbows both in colours and neutral. Something new that I’ll be adding will be knitting kits!! These will be a basic kit and will be available in Kids or adult options. I’m aiming to release some how to videos... but I need to work out how to do this haha. My plan at the moment is to open my store again and release these new babies at the end of April so I’d better get knitting!! 04.01.2022 New colour combination coming up. I’m sitting here while Ivy’s playing with her new Spirograph and calling me in her ‘phone’ (which is actually the Spirograph).
