25.01.2022 Inner child work

21.01.2022 URGENT INFORMATION FOR ALL PARENTS!!!!!! I would like to alert you to a developing social media incident that may impact your children and family. A person has died by suicide while live-streaming on social media platform TikTok. This graphic video is being circulating internationally across additional social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and SnapChat.... The video has reached some people in Australia and may lead to an increase in local services, especially for young people. This may also lead to increased online discussion of suicide. We ask that you closely monitor your children's online discussion forums and social media, and respond with appropriate help-seeking information where needed. Be vigilant in terms of not permitting your child to access or use their mobile phone today. There are multiple organisations seeking for the content to be removed, but this may take a bit of time. eSafety has contacted social media companies about the reports and will continue working with them to monitor the situation. People who encounter this content should report it to the social media platform they've seen it on, or to eSafety at www.esafety.gov.au/report/illegal-harmful-content. Exercise discretion in communication about this incident to children. In particular, we would encourage avoiding raising the issue with children who may not have heard or been exposed to this video. Drawing undue attention may cause unnecessary worry or distress and increase exposure. Monitor children who are more vulnerable and at-risk, and check in with them about their interactions on and offline. If a young person, or family and friends, are presenting with signs of distress, seek support and advice by contacting one of the following services: Kids Helpline. 1800 55 1800. Phone support is there all day, every day. Online support is open from 8am-midnight every day (AEST). Suicide Callback Service. 1300 659 467. Phone support all day, every day, and follow-up calls. eHeadspace. 1800 650 890. Open 9am-1am daily (AEST). Lifeline. 13 11 14. Phone support all day, every day. Online support 7pm-4am daily (AEST). Beyondblue. 1300 22 4636. Phone support all day, every day. Online support 3pm-midnight every day.

21.01.2022 Close to my heart When you have a "regular" child, you feel reasonably assured that class participation and decent study habits will result in good grades. These kids have close friends. They get invited to participate in social things like dances and weekend gatherings. They make the teams, auditioned organizations and clubs. And you give little thought to them remaining academically eligible for participation. But when you have a child with certain differences, this i...s often not the case. Learning may take longer, both academically and socially. Despite their tremendous efforts, results are often a fraction of their peers and social acceptance is fleeting, setting them up for painful comparisons and bitter frustration. Instead of a fun and fulfilling experience, school can become a breeding ground for depression and anxiety, and assignments a battle ground at home. It is exhausting for parent and child alike. This is the week of SPED (Special Education), Autism, Dyslexia, and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) awareness. For all the children who struggle every day to succeed in a world that does not recognize their gifts and talents, and for those who are walking beside them, please let this be a gentle reminder to be kind and accepting of ALL people. Recognize that the "playing field" is not always a level surface. Children who learn differently are not weird. They are merely gifted in ways that our society does not value. Yet they want what everyone else wants: To be accepted. All children who are deemed "different" make our world far more beautiful and diverse! All they want is to have a friend and to not be alone, let that sink in...they JUST. WANT. A. FRIEND. #JustWantAFriend

05.01.2022 DEFEND OUR TRANS KIDS Here in Australia, the backlash to LGBT+ equality is growing. Despite a large majority of Australians voting for marriage equality in 2017, politicians are attacking our rights with a deluge of harmful laws. One example is a proposed law in the New South Wales Parliament that would ban recognition of trans and gender diverse young people from school communities and sack teachers who give them support.... The law would exacerbate the isolation, exclusion, discrimination and bullying experienced by LGBT+ young people, particularly trans and gender diverse young people. The proposed law is now being seriously considered by a Committee of the New South Wales Parliament in Sydney. Our organisations, just.equal and The Gender Centre, have started a petition to stop the law in its tracks. But time is running out and we need your support to make ourselves heard. Please sign our petition to the Premier of New South Wales. https://allout.actionkit.com/go/34021 Thanks for going All Out. Rodney Croome, just.equal, and Eloise Brook, The Gender Centre
