14.01.2022 Christmas shopping? Want to give a present that will make a big difference to the life of a young person in need? Then check out this great idea! It is well known that education helps break the vicious cycle of poverty in developing countries and provides young people the opportunity of an improved standard of living.... Just $240 a year will pay the school fees for one child for one year in Indonesia. Without a helping hand, many children from poor families simply cannot afford an education. By donating just $5 a week, $20 per month, $240 per year, you can help disadvantaged young people from PNG and Indonesia get the basic necessities of food, clothing, housing and education. What is 50 making a difference? 50 making a difference is a new initiative from Have a Go, a small charitable work that provides financial support and friendship to men, women and children in impoverished situations. 50 people donating $20 per month for a year amounts to $12000 annually going directly to support over 150 young people in difficult circumstances in PNG and Indonesia. Have a Go comes in alongside local groups and supports their work and mission amongst the poor in their communities. The majority of our support is directed to the basics; food, clothing and education for children. We also provide money for one-off situations, such as seed money for small businesses, immediate medical care, and disaster relief. Currently Have a Go supports projects in Mount Hagen in PNG, and West Timor and Flores in Indonesia. So come on, get involved and have a go! By your support, you can make a real difference to the lives of some of our nearest and poorest neighbours. Simply drop an email to Andy so you can receive regular updates, set up a monthly payment plan, and be one of the 50 making a difference. 14.01.2022 Have a Go is extremely proud to support the work of a dynamic group of dedicated people called Caritas. They are are passionate about serving people in need in their community, and are making a difference to the lives of many. Have a Go has been supporting their program of education scholarships for several years, allowing many young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to complete their education. To date, this program has seen around 50 young people successfully complete t...heir secondary schooling. More recently, Caritas, in partnership with Have a Go, has been providing tertiary scholarships to promising students from difficult backgrounds. A tertiary qualification will significantly improve the chances of these young people securing a good job, dramatically improving their circumstances and that of their extended family. This program really is making a difference to the lives of many in Maumere and beyond. See more
