25.01.2022 This student is SUPER set up for a big session. Nice to see someone working so hard. These are what we call "Chord Partials" which can be played up and down the guitar neck. Hopefully there's no gust of wind to upset it all!!!!

23.01.2022 A few people have asked about the band I played in. Here's some videos from a gig we did at The Railway Hotel in Byron. A while ago now but a fantastic venue. https://camlmac.wixsite.com/mymusic/videos-byron

20.01.2022 Trying to control this lot is becoming a bit harder each week!!!!! Please send re-enforcements.

19.01.2022 A great clip showing the infectious effect of music. What a great little dancer!!!

19.01.2022 I'm VERY lucky doing what I do!! Last night the same student asked to learn two songs. An old school classic in Spirit in the Sky as well as a modern classic called Lucid Dreams. Amazing way to finish the day playing these two although the rest of the day was a load of fun as well.

18.01.2022 We had our last jam session of the current little "season" yesterday. It was a ukulele jam with 5 ukulele players, Brian on bass and me on drums. A nice mixture of strumming songs, melody songs, songs with fills and riffs plus an ensemble piece.... We ended with Jill playing her piano accordion with the others strumming. A really great sound. We're going to be doing more of this!!! Here's some of the songs that were played- puff the magic dragon / you are my sunshine / let it be / hallelujah / waltzing matilda / sweet caroline / four strong winds / love me tender / tequila / pearly shells / patience / mull of kintyre / sounds of silence / to her door / sounds irish. Loads and loads of fun and a great way to hone your playing. There will be another season a little alter in the year.

15.01.2022 Darryl has bought himself a lovely new guitar!! Not only is it gorgeous it plays well and has an awesome sound.

14.01.2022 Nice one Ethan!! He has finished Musical Brain level 1 with flying colours. This includes leaning to keep count and learning to hear different pitches. Now onto level 2. Ethan is also 2/3 of the way through chords level 1. We do musical brain to help students learn the basics of music that are used by all musicians. This helps to learn any instrument more effectively and more quickly.

14.01.2022 TOPIC OF THE MOMENT. To help round out our student’s knowledge we have a Topic of the Moment every few months. At the moment we’re working on tuning. When a guitar is out of tune it sounds terrible. So having the ability to tune is essential to playing songs and having fun. It’s also something that needs to be taught and definitely something that students have to practice at home.... Tuning starts with using an electronic tuner leading to tuning by ear. With the electronic tuner we cover which is the best mode to use and we believe it is chromatic, understanding to check the note name first and then tune that to perfection, learning the musical alphabet so that students can fix up strings that are one or two notes too high or too low. With tuning by ear I start with training students to hear pitch better then I move onto tuning from another instrument like a guitar, piano and xylophone. The next step is tuning to your own guitar using string to string method, octave tuning and harmonics tuning. Along the way students learn some more details about pitch. How notes have a range and are divided into 100 cents and that being in tune is 0 cents. When a note is too high it’s in the positive cents range up to 50 positive and when a note is low it is in the negative cents range down to 50 minus. If you are happy with your playing but are interested in just leaning how to tune we can do lessons for you.

13.01.2022 Here's a bit of a recording we did last night with Brad playing guitar to Sunshine of Your Love. We downloaded a backing track and Brad played the guitar to that. Sounds really good.

13.01.2022 Yesterday was our second round of jam sessions. The four groups played just over an hour each doing around 15 songs each - a BIG day with students really enjoying themselves, learning a few more things and being able to put all of their hard work into reality. Some songs we played straight through and moved on while others we spent time on polishing them up. To make the day into a band experience we had Brian on bass guitar and Cameron on drums for each group....Continue reading

12.01.2022 This is the home of Bandwagon Music Lessons. A really easy place to find with plenty of off street parking. The rooms are nice and spacious with air conditioning.

12.01.2022 Back with face to face lessons This is my third week back now doing face to face lessons. It’s such a good feeling to be doing them again. It’s been lovely to see just about every student back with a couple unfortunately unable to return due to job losses. I have my fingers crossed for these people that things change very soon for them. While the video lessons were very good the face to face meetings are a definitely better. So much easier to communicate, give handouts, g...ive demos, etc. I’ve been very fortunate to pick up 5 new students since being back so my numbers are now over 60! To help with the load I now have another teacher doing lessons as well. Brian is a long term musician who can play guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, drums and also sings. Very talented! He has played in many bands over the years covering styles like country, rock, pop and jazz. So he knows a lot about music. Brian has started giving lessons on a Tues afternoon based on the teaching method that I use. Plans for the year Now that things are edging back to normal I’m starting to plan some events for the rest of the year. Firstly there will be student get togethers to play some music. These will be informal with about 6-10 people in each group playing songs for fun. To give the session a better feel there will be a drummer, bass player and singer for a full band experience. These session will be in late July to early August. We will be having a concert again this year most likely in late Oct or early Nov. This is more structured with students being put into bands, rehearsing and then performing to family and friends. Last year’s concert was a huge success so we will be looking to repeat this year. The main goals myself, Brian and the students will be working towards are improving skills and learning songs that students choose. Some of the extras to these goals we’ll work on are tuning, musical brain (pitch and rhythm training) and technique drills.

11.01.2022 The weekend was a busy time with student jam sessions held on Sat and Sun. Each day there were 3 sessions each going for an hour. It’s a great thing when people get together and make music like these groups did. The sessions are a lot of fun but are also a goal that students have to work towards. Somehow there’s more practice time found and lots of gains made. Sat started with a lead player session. Brad, Darryl and Vinuka jammed away with each player doing a 2-3 minute solo ...Continue reading

08.01.2022 Annette's new drums are very sparkly, but even better than that they sound beautiful. For the last little while she's been practicing on a make shift drum kit of pillows but now has the real thing.

06.01.2022 A BIG thanks to Bundaberg!! We've just passed 75 students on our roster. This is very pleasing as we work extra hard to expertly guide each and every student towards their musical goals. We also make sure that students feel welcome, special and cared for. Even though we are growing we promise to keep our high standards up for each student. Bye for now, Cameron and team.

05.01.2022 Did you know that the brains of musically trained children tend to work faster? FIVEaa recently interviewed Music Education Strategy Manager Nicholas Birch a...nd Neuromusical Educator Dr Anita Collins about the Department for Education’s music strategy. 04.01.2022 The one room I forgot to include in our recent studio photos is the room for those that don't practice -

04.01.2022 Brock had a pretty good excuse for having trouble with his homework. The new kitten attacked his book!!! Not sure if puss loved the songs or hated the songs.

03.01.2022 Hi there, We had a lovely afternoon of music making yesterday. There were two groups each playing for an hour.... Firstly was a guitar group with Ben, Harry, Min, Tahj and William. They were backed up by Teagan on vocals, Brian on bass and me on drums. It was nice to see first timers Harry and Tahj do so well and really enjoy themselves. The group played a mixture of oldies and some newer songs including Zombie by The Cranberries, Radioactive by Imagine Dragons, Old Town Road by Lil Nas, Time of Your Life by Greenday and Californication by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The second group was a ukulele group with Annette, Gillian, Jill and Narelle. This time backed up by Brian on bass and me on drums. Some of the songs that were played were Mr Bojangles by Sammy Davis Jr, Under the Boardwalk by The Drifters, Take Me Home Country Roads by John Denver. Unfortunately our singer couldn’t make though we had a lovely late visit by Jo Carr who sang 20 minutes for us very special!! We extended the session to fit a few more in with Jo there. It was nice to see everyone playing so well and enjoying themselves. There was a lot of very nice music as well as some good laughs. One interesting point was raised by William he wants to know why in Waltzing Matilda did the squatter and troopers ask Where's that jolly jumbuck you've got in your tuckerbag? when they already knew where it was!!!! Something to ponder!!!! Next Sunday we will be at it again this time with 4 groups.

01.01.2022 One of these pictures has me playing at the Byron Bay Blues Festival. Did that a couple of times with a great group of musicians called The Natural Born Lovers. We also had a once a month gig at the Railway Hotel in Byron. All very cool indeed - great gigs.
