25.01.2022 Well, it’s been 4 yrs today since we purchased our property with the dream of creating a quality, quirky and quinessential 1970’s Aussie holiday house offering in the Jervis Bay area. 4 years on ... ‘Haven by the Bay’ - Jervis Bay has hosted well over 100 guest booking, many from overseas, maintained its Airbnb 5 star guest rating and we have continued to be awarded Airbnb ‘Superhost’ ranking. 24.01.2022 Hiya Havenistas, another week of booking restrictions saw another week of improvements at ’Haven’. This week the resort bathroom had a set of custom fitted cabinet doors installed, and in keeping with our ‘recycle, reuse, repurpose, rehome philosophy, the doors were remodeled by cutting down a couple of teak pantry doors we found on a kurbside collection pile some years back. Now they have a new home, a new purpose and a new life at ‘Haven‘. While we were at it we created an oak microwave shelf (with travel limiter) from the remnants of the waterfall kitchen benchtop left over during ‘Havens’ renovation a few years back. Here’s the ‘Haven Challenge’ ... what can you recycle?

21.01.2022 With a new season comes some new inclusions at ‘Haven by the Bay’ - Jervis Bay. A newly installed bi-section roll out ‘panorama’ window offering views of Booderee NP and Erowal Bay from the livingroom and a new ‘tone-on-tone’ look for its resort bathroom. ‘Come and stay at Haven by the Bay - Jervis Bay.

19.01.2022 Hiya ‘Havenistas’. Julie and Ian hope you are all doing OK during the current Pandemic restrictions and staying safe and well. While we’ve chosen to ‘block‘ bookings at Haven by the Bay - Jervis Bay until July 2020 to comply with travel and gathering restrictions, we’ve used this time (via NSWPF approved to/from work travel allowances) to do a ‘Bayside Hamptons‘ makeover of ‘Haven’ with more to come in the weeks and months ahead. To our guests who’ve been and for those yet to come when we once again re-open our ‘Haven’ for bookings, we hope you like our new look ‘Haven’. Stay safe ya’ll.

19.01.2022 Hello ‘Havenistas’. With the effects of the global COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic having increasingly dramatic impact on our daily lives, we (Julie and Ian) have decided to block bookings at Haven by the Bay - Jervis Bay until the start of May 2020 and will closely monitor the situation as the days progress. This decision was made early and required us to work closely with our pre booked guests, some from o’seas locations and over the past week, keeping them informed of changes to travel and in a display of ‘humanity in action’ to ’clear the books’ so we didn’t disappoint our valued guests. So, from adversity comes inspiration, compassion and togetherness ... sometimes diamonds come in differing forms. What a pleasure it is to host such beautiful people.

16.01.2022 Well, today, ‘Haven by the Bay’ - Jervis Bay welcomed its 100th guest stay since welcoming our first guests back in Nov 2017. Quite a milestone. ‘Happy Haven’s Hundredth’ to our current guests.

16.01.2022 Hiya ‘Havenistas’.. As we celebrate our 2nd year of listing ‘Haven by the Bay’ - Jervis Bay on Airbnb, we will soon approach our 100th guest stay (arriving next week). Quite a milestone and such a privilege to know we have created a ‘Haven’ for our guests and a place tio create ‘Haven Holistay memories while throughout, maintaining our Airbnb 5 star Superhost status. So, let the busy season begin.

15.01.2022 Hello again ‘Havenistas’. With the ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic and the increased ‘social distancing’ rules, we (Julie and Ian) have decided to extend the ‘block out’ period of bookings Haven by the Bay - Jervis Bay until 1 July 2020 and will closely monitor the situation as it progresses. In the meantime, we have placed ‘Teddies in the Windows’ as a way to bring a smile to the young and young at heart who pass by.

11.01.2022 Well Havenistas, it’s almost Christmas and the holiday season is just about to begin. Our ‘Haven’ is now fully booked until Feb 2020 and the beaches of Jervis Bay are looking as beautiful as ever. So, from our family to yours, we wish everyone a blessed Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2020. Happy Holistays everyone

05.01.2022 Hello Havenistas. Well, after many conversations of late with Airbnb Australia, it seems that our jealously guarded and hard earned Airbnb ‘Superhost’ status, awarded by Airbnb for our exceptional Airbnb ‘Hosting’ will be effected due to our decision to ‘block‘ any new bookings until Mid Jan 2021 because of our concerns for the safety of would-be guests of COVID-19 virus transmission that could occur if we maintained an open booking schedule during current and future months i...n the current COVID-19 world and in light of the relaxing of travel and social distancing/gathering restrictions to take place from 1 June 2020. While we totally understand Airbnb’s decision and don’t seek any favour in that decision, we accept our potential loss of ‘Superhost’ status as a ‘badge of honour’ for standing by our decision to remain strong in our belief that our decision is the ‘right one’ for us and would be guests at these times. Infact, Airbnb has been fabulous during our discussions and in keeping with our historic experiences with Airbnb, they have been professional, reliable, supportive and a great ‘partner’ in our successes at ‘Haven’. We are proud Airbnb Superhosts and will be that again once we re-open for bookings in a COVID SAFE world. However, every cloud has a silver lining and, like many other nimble and progressive businesses, we will continue to upgrade our ‘Haven‘ and use the ‘block-out’ period to undertake improvements, inclusions, features and maintenance to make Haven by the Bay - Jervis Bay an even better experience for our future ‘Havenistas (valued guests). 02.01.2022 Hiya Havenistas. Well, with COVID-19 still requiring significant and necessary social distancing/isolation compliance (including holidaying restrictions) and with no vaccine insight in the short term, Jules and I have made the difficult decision to extend our COVID-19 ‘block-out’ period and take Haven by the Bay - Jervis Bay off the holiday rental accommodation market until such time as it becomes completely safe to resume hosting once again. We intend to honour our existing ...bookings in Dec20 and Jan21 (2 bookings only) if restrictions indeed allow such activities by that time and will adopt an extreme ‘deep clean’ regime at these times. As we consider ‘deep clean’ to mean just that, everything, every Pictionary card and piece, every individual handrail section, every chair leg, every ornament, every dresser, cupboard and cabinet door knob, legs and internal draws, something we hope others who continue to ‘host’ even now, will/would be doing, as to not do so would be perilous and vastly increase transmission risk. So, it’s the demands of having to performing continuous ‘deep clean’ procedures after each guest booking on a weekly booking schedule (based on our historic booking frequency) that has directed our decision to cease ‘hosting’ at this time as it would require significant time, finance and resource increases, not to mention the health and safety concerns for ourselves (as we’ve always done our own cleaning) and our would be guests in these times. So, until we are COVID-19 free, ‘Haven Holistays’ are on hold. We are saddened to have to do so but confident that our decision reflects the ‘right decision’ in many, many ways.
