23.01.2022 What do you think God's plan for this part of the world would look like?

22.01.2022 As we know only too well, the weatherman does not control the weather! When my second eldest son was in Grade 1, he was booked to go on an excursion to a farm, which had a baby animal enclosure where the children could feed and interact with the animals. He could hardly contain his excitement, but then it rained all week, and the children were told they would not be able to go if it rained the next morning. He was understandably anxious, so I suggested we pray and ask God to ...make it fine and sunny in the morning, which we did. Next morning I awoke to shouts of ‘thank you Jesus’, ‘I love you God’, ‘thank you thank you’. I got up to find my son at the loungeroom window, looking out on a fine, sunny day. Needless to say, he had a great time at the farm and was very thankful to God. Years later he had his own son, and had taken him fishing in a small boat. A strong wind blew up suddenly, and the waves were big and choppy, which frightened his son who wanted to go home, but they could not make any headway against the wind. After a scary hour or two it occurred to him that he and his son should pray for the wind to stop and the waves to settle. He told me later that the wind died down about 2 minutes after they prayed, and the sea was calm for the rest of the day. So, two young boys learnt that God answers prayer. He doesn’t always answer the way we want or expect, but we should always ask. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. John 16:24 (NIV) Are you asking God for something today? - Kerrie

19.01.2022 When shadows fall across our path, we can sometimes be surprised at the depth and length of them. We cannot avoid or escape them, for they either follow or go ahead of us, until perhaps we wonder if the sun will ever shine through the shadows again. Recently we heard that Prince Philip had died at the age of 99 years. Across the world, people have expressed their sadness at his passing, but no one experienced the loss as deeply as the Queen, his wife of 73 years. She said of ...him, ‘he was my strength and my stay’. Her children have expressed the great void she is experiencing, without her beloved husband by her side. Around the same time, a relative of mine lost a dear friend, who would only have been about 40 years old. It has affected him deeply. The point is that grief, loss and sadness touches all our lives at some time or other, and apart from the sorrow it brings, it can also make us think about what the future holds for us. We may ask ourselves some difficult questions. Eg. ‘How will I manage without my loved one’? What would happen to my children if I were to die’? The biggest question is ‘where will I go when I die’? ‘What happens after death’? The best news is that through Jesus Christ we have the offer of an eternal home in heaven with God. It is a place of love and peace, a place where there is no evil, no suffering or heartache, only everlasting joy. This is what the Bible says: He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever. (NLT) If you would like to know more about heaven, please send us your questions or comment below. - Kerrie
