24.01.2022 Do you have a necklace that needs re-threading? A broken link in your favourite bracelet? A dodgy clasp? We will have Jess from JAC Studios on hand to help you with basic jewellery repairs like replacing broken clasps and re-threading strings of beads. Some repairs are best left to paid professionals with specialist equipment. We won't be able to help with precious metals, stones and fine jewellery.
24.01.2022 The Hawker Community Repair Cafe is brought to you by the Hawker Men's Shed. The Hawker Men's Shed started operations in October 2019 under the auspices of Softball ACT, but membership is open to the broader community. The shed meets on Friday mornings from 9:30am. Men’s Sheds are community-based, non-profit, non-commercial organisations that are accessible to all men and whose primary activity is the provision of a safe and friendly environment where men are able to work o...n meaningful projects and social activities at their own pace, in their own time and in the company of other men. The Hawker shed also welcomes women as members. For more information about the Hawker Shed visit there website or Facebook page https://mensshed.org/profile/AMSA101430/ https://www.facebook.com/hawker.mensshed
24.01.2022 It's been lovely cycling weather this weekend! Do you have a bike that needs a bit of TLC but you don't know where to start?? At next Sunday's Hawker Community Repair Cafe, we will have volunteers able to help show how to do basic bike maintenance and repairs like gear adjustment, cable lubrication, brake adjustment, wheel truing and bearing replacement. They can help teach you how to keep a bike in order. ... We won't be able to help with more time-consuming tasks like wheel rebuilds or major overhauls. (Image by Ruslan Bardash on unsplash)

21.01.2022 Did you miss our repair cafe last Sunday? Have things that need repairs? Can't wait until June 20 for our next event?... Then you are in luck! Our Southside friends have a repair cafe THIS SUNDAY at the Tuggeranong Community Centre. Check them out for more info. https://www.facebook.com/110871964150137/posts/209620357608630/
20.01.2022 Do you have an appliance that's lost its mojo? Beaters not beating? Coffee machine with a bit of a gurgle? ... Damaged plug need to be replaced? We will have John on hand tomorrow at the Hawker Community Repair Cafe to help with your electrical appliance repair needs*. * We are not able to attempt repairs on microwave ovens, old style CRT televisions and some old appliances that don't meet current safety standards. You may need to buy parts elsewhere to complete a repair, but it's probably as easy as a quick trip to Bunnings once you've chatted to the experts to find out what you need.

15.01.2022 The rain has not dampened the enthusiasm of our volunteers! Toasters, mulchers, animatronic witches, lamps, lawnmowers, blowers, finger puppet theatres, blunt garden equipment, chairs, clothes, curtains and more have already been looked at today. There's an hour left, what will you bring along?
12.01.2022 What is a repair cafe? Is there coffee?? Repair cafes are events where neighbours can get together to share knowledge on how to repair household items. Members of the Belconnen community have volunteered to come along and share their skills in repairing things. We will have coffee, cakes and a sausage sizzle available to purchase (funds raised will go to Softball ACT and Hawker Men's Shed, both not for profit community organisations and our venue hosts :) )... 07.01.2022 The Hawker Community Repair Café will be a covid-safe event. That means we will have venue capacity restrictions, will require visitors and volunteers to maintain 1.5m social distance, names and contact numbers will be recorded and everyone will need to practice good hand hygiene. Help us protect our visitors and volunteers. Please don’t come if you have even mild cold symptoms, have been to a covid hotspot in the previous two weeks or have been in contact with a known cas...e of covid. Photo by visuals on Unsplash
