23.01.2022 Flying the flag at PCYC Hawkesbury As the Federal Member, its a privilege to be able to present our flags, and recently I visited South Windsor to present the ...Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands flags to PCYC Hawkesbury and Hawkesbury Basketball Home of the Hawkesbury Jets. While I was there I got to see the new gym, and also had a look at the improvements the Jets have made following the Federal grant I helped them with. And theres more to come for the Jets so watch this space. 22.01.2022 A message from our Bio-safety Crew: please do not move the spectator chairs. They are placed with the correct spacing so we can comply with the rules. We are doing our best to stay open and not get fined. Please work with us on this.

22.01.2022 One spectator for junior players who require an adult. No spectators for senior players. It's pretty simple. Don't ask for exemptions. Don't ignore instructions. We are trying to keep everyone safe, trying to keep running and not get fined.

22.01.2022 Last rep game of the season. Good luck to our Jets Youth League Men playing Ryde Inner West Bulls at 6pm today at home at The Hangar. One spectator per player.

17.01.2022 *With Importance* Attention all Jets and Supporters - COVID has directly impacted some of our community and has been reported within metres of the stadium at the Netball Courts.... HDBA believes it is time to implement a set of protocols for how we discuss COVID. COVID status or exposure should be treated as any other medical condition that is, confidentially. All members need to review the World Health Organisation article, Social Stigma with Covid-19. It is found at: https://www.who.int//coronaviruse/covid19-stigma-guide.pdf Please understand we must all take care not to create social stigma. If people choose to disclose their status or tell someone they have been in an identified area of exposure, then that is their choice to do so. However, that information must remain confidential. No one should then tell another person or hold a discussion about it. If you choose to disclose to HDBA, that information will remain confidential. People should not ask others their COVID status or if they have been exposed. No one has a right to demand that confidential information from them. If exposed or tested, it is ESSENTIAL persons isolate from basketball and not attend sessions including games, training or other organised events as directed by NSW Health Guidelines. Anyone feeling unwell for any reason must not attend. We hope these protocols will maintain the health, safety and mental well-being of our members during this pandemic. It is vital we keep sanitising and practising safe distancing to keep our programs running. Thank you all for your cooperation. #LetsKeepJetsSoaring

15.01.2022 The Board of Hawkesbury and District Basketball Association are disappointed with the announcement of the termination of Metro Junior League for 2020. Please be assured that we did vote in favour of MJL continuing and there was no time to consult with members before the vote was required. Unfortunately the announcement was made by Basketball NSW to cancel the competition. ... It was unfortunate that this was posted on social media before we were made aware as we would have liked to have informed our rep families ourselves. We all have the best interest of our members and their families and we do want to keep you all safe and we have spent a lot of volunteer time and club money ensuring that our biosafety is in place. Rest assured we will be coming up with some activities to keep our members playing, in particular on Thursdays when normal rep training would have occurred and we are open to further suggestions but bear in mind we do have biosafety conditions that need to be met including stadium numbers. Please email us at [email protected] if you have suggestions for basketball activities.

15.01.2022 Congratulations to the following players who have made the 2021 training squad. One further trial invite only.

15.01.2022 Watch this space for our school holiday clinics, not only do we have the Sydney Flames but we also have an under 10s day, a shooting clinic and an Under 19 Womens clinic. Watch this space for more info.

11.01.2022 A reminder to all players to get your registration up to date before you play. You all would have received emails to remind you if your registration is due. Please check it the day before your game as players are not able to be added to the i-Pad easily during games. If you have primary registration at Hills they do not operate on the same system as other NSW basketball associations. You may have trouble doing your affiliation. If this occurs please come into the office well before your game with proof of your primary registration to get this organised. Please note that this is nothing to do with Hawkesbury Basketball or our staff as we operate on the system Basketball NSW have directed. Please do not take your frustrations out on our staff.

02.01.2022 SERIOUSLY COVID It’s serious Hawkesbury Basketball takes our Duty of Care with Covid Compliance very seriously.... We have a very dedicated crew of Bio Safety Officers working tirelessly to keep our doors open and our members playing. The ONLY way this can remain is with Cooperation from everyone. We have been experiencing a distressing level of people trying to avoid the One Spectator per Junior/ NO Spectators per Senior Player requirement. Our Volunteers are encountering resistance and sometimes abuse. We do not want to but are close to making a NO Spectators decision. We want as many people as possible to be able to experience basketball with their children. If cooperation cannot be given, then look for further restriction of our services. PLEASE TAKE IT SERIOUSLY One Spectator per Junior player, if they need you to be able to present to play. No spectators for Senior players - Coach, Manager & Scorekeepers ONLY - Those in these positions need to be on your Team Nomination, registered with HDBA and provide Working With Children Check Number Thank You #Let’sKeepJetsSoaring

02.01.2022 Its another week.....remember to stay away if you are unwell and keep checking the website for places that are known hotspots or monitor for symptoms including Katoomba, Rouse Hill and Stanhope Gardens. https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates

01.01.2022 HDBA Members We are currently assessing the number of spectators attending games and the number of members continuing to sit on the player benches and on score ...table unnecessarily. We are receiving several complaints and our members are now on notice. The review process leading up to the school holidays will be on a club decision to potentially impose further spectator bans due to the current disregard of the COVID rules by a few. We ask for all current members to self manage this situation or HDBA will move to ban all spectators during games. If you are asked to move or leave by a Bio-safety Officer, a Board member, Staff, Official or a Referee you MUST respect the request and action the order given. We understand and acknowledge the majority of members are doing the right thing. Unfortunately it only takes a few to create a problem. We WILL not risk being shut down. Further updates on this situation will be posted in due course. And dont forget; without Bio-safety, we will not have games. Hawkesbury and District Basketball Association Hawkesbury Jets www.hawkesburybasketball.com

01.01.2022 Another week in COVID. Please do not attend if you are unwell. Make sure you are aware of the known hotspots and do not attend if you have visited them in the time period specified. Please take note of our rules about biosafety and be nice to our biosafety volunteers: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates
