25.01.2022 How do you want to feel on Sunday 25th October, 2020? Sore...perhaps. Certainly a bit sleep-deprived. But after accomplishing a paddle of 111kms down the Hawkesbury River to raise funds for medical research, you will also feel absolutely on top of the world!! Sign up now for a night to remember: https://www.canoeclassic.net/... Pics courtesy Abbey Digital

22.01.2022 ENTER NOW!!! To make the Classic viable in these COVID times we MUST have 200 paddlers, entered and paid, by TODAY, September 4th. Please enter now!

22.01.2022 Whether you get there in 10 hours or 16, there's a special feeling crossing the finish line at Mooney Mooney boat ramp. How do you want to feel in 50 days time? Why not choose a night to remember? https://www.canoeclassic.net/ Pics: Abbey Digital, finish line 2019.

21.01.2022 Why do we paddle the Classic? While I will always be a record chaser, the experience of being out on the Hawkesbury at night is also such a unique part of this race that it will continue to draw me back. - Naomi Johnson There are long periods of solitude in the dark and out under the stars that solitude provides a perfect environment for reflection; reflection on myself as a person, relationships, and what is important. - John Duffy... What is your reason to paddle the Hawkesbury Classic? https://www.canoeclassic.net Pics: Ian Wrenford, LCRK

20.01.2022 Let's raise some money for Arrow The biggest "loser" in the fall-out from the cancellation of this year's Classic has been the major recipient of our paddlers fundraising, The Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation. Money raised by paddlers in each year's Classic makes up a large part of the total funds received by Arrow. In these COVID times, money flowing to all charities is tight. They really do need our support.... We are asking paddlers, their supporters and the broader community to dig deep and help support this fabulous charity. You have the option of either donating to the overall fund at https://registration.canoeclassic.asn.au/sponsorships/new or adding to your paddlers fundraising contribution by going to https://www.canoeclassic.net/make-a-donation Remember, all donations are tax-deductible and an official receipt will be issued. We already have over $4600.00 in donations. Let's see if we can hit $100,000 !

19.01.2022 Thanks to the Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation for some info on what funds raised through the Hawkesbury Classic go towards. It's a fun paddle with a serious and lifesaving purpose. See you on the river on October 24th! https://www.canoeclassic.net/

19.01.2022 We are getting closer to 200 paddlers!! If you have not completed your registration and paid in full, can you please do so prior to 10pm tonight. Thank you for all your support and we hope to get to 200 paddlers within the next few hours

16.01.2022 2020 Hawkesbury Canoe Classic CANCELLED The organising committee of the Hawkesbury Canoe Classic has advised that the 2020 Classic has been cancelled. HCC Association President, Roger Deane announced the decision this afternoon saying it was his sad duty to confirm the cancellation due to the ravages of COVID-19.... Event Coordinator, Kent Heazlett has praised the efforts of the organising committee (including our publicity and COVID-19 sub-committees) saying that they had given it their very best shot to get the event over the line. Unfortunately, we fell short of our advertised target of having 200 paddlers entered and paid by the 4th September. The uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 regulations that may or may not be in place in late October has acted as a deterrent to paddlers committing to the event. Kent said that the support from our volunteer organisations , our Checkpoint teams, local Councils, Checkpoint land-owners and the NSW Government (Transport for NSW (Maritime) and NSW Police has been amazingly positive. Next year !!

04.01.2022 Thank you for the support

03.01.2022 HCC committee members take on the Morison 50 Having failed to get their annual Hawkesbury "fix" last weekend owing to the cancellation of the Hawkesbury Classic, three members of the 2020 Race Committee are paddling in this weekend's "Morison 50" on the Hawkesbury. The event, expertly put together at short notice by PaddleNSW following easing of restrictions earlier this month, offers paddlers the option of taking on a 12km distance, a 24km distance and the full 50km distance.... Each of the distances is a "down and back", starting and finishing at Macquarie Park, Windsor. Kevin Kelly in a single kayak, Mark O'Hara and Kent Heazlett in a Mirage double, are all taking on the 24km distance of the event. Interestingly, Cameron Tunbridge and Brett Worth, half of the "fastest ever" Classic crew (in a K4 with Garry Byrne and Grant Hughes) with a time of 7hours 11 minutes, are both taking part in the event. Very hot competition for the veteran Kent and the much younger Mark !! We would love to raise some money for Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation, who would have been the recipient of funds raised by paddlers in the 2020 Classic, which was unfortunately cancelled. Money raised by paddlers participating in the Classic is the major source of income for Arrow. Obviously this year they have totally missed out. If you would like to sponsor Kevin, Mark and Kevin simply go to https://registration.canoeclassic.asn.au/sponsorships/new Every dollar helps. Donations are tax deductible.

01.01.2022 The Hawkesbury is... A challenge like no other A night on the river with mates A chance to save a life A dive into paddling... A foray into endurance sports A record to be broken An early morning stopover at Low Tide Pit Stop A legacy, and a story of legends An achievement to brag about all the way to Christmas! What will be your Hawkesbury story? Only four hours until close of Early Bird entries, so be a Classic YES in 2020! https://www.canoeclassic.net/ Pic: Ian Wrenford, 2018
