24.01.2022 Loyal employee Erin is now past her due date and refuses to leave us all at HFD. Thought we would try to encourage her a bit.

24.01.2022 A little update for all our patients. As advised from the ADA, we are currently working under Level 2 restrictions. So what does this mean for our patients? Fortunately, it opens up a lot more options for their treatment but this does have an impact on our cleans and scales. We have been informed that we are unable to perform a water scale/ clean for the time being although, we will keep you updated when we know of any further changes.

21.01.2022 Interesting Dental Trivia Different animals have different amounts of teeth; cats, 30; dogs, 42; and pigs have 44 teeth. Horse hair was used years ago for toothbrush bristles but were later found to be abrasive and harsh.... People dont chew up and down; they chew side to side just like cows chew. All bats have spiky teeth. The Crocodile Bird flies into a crocodiles open mouth and cleans its teeth. Scientists count rings on a dolphins teeth to determine its age. The long-snouted spinner dolphin has as many as 252 teeth. During the Middle Ages in Germany, people believed that kissing a donkey relieved toothaches.

14.01.2022 We are well into the winter sport season by now and are hoping that players are wearing their mouthguards to protect their teeth from injury but here are some tips incase the unlikely does occur. First Aid for a knocked out or chipped permanent tooth Gently rinse the tooth and tooth fragments in milk for a few seconds to remove excess dirt and blood.... Handle the tooth by its crown (the white enamel top part of the tooth), not its root and be careful not to rub off the endothelial (tissue) fragments on the root of the tooth, as these are needed for the tooth to take if replaced by the dentist. Replace the tooth back in the socket (be certain that the tooth is placed into the socket the correct way round compare to the teeth next to it, the front surface usually convex outwards). Seek dental advice as soon as possible and ensure the family takes the child to the dentist with the tooth/tooth fragments within 30 minutes, as the root endothelial layer begins to deteriorate after 30 minutes. If the tooth has been in contact with dirt or soil, advise the family that a tetanus needle may be required and advise them to consult with both their dentist and doctor. See more
