24.01.2022 OUR HAWKESBURY IS OPEN FOR VISITORS Over the past months several of our townships were impacted by fire. Now that the smoke has cleared and there is no longer a... threat of fire we would like to encourage our wider community to come and visit these townships and celebrate what is unique about our Hawkesbury. St Albans is in the heart of the Macdonald Valley. It is know by the locals as "The Forgotten Valley". This is a picturesque small village which was named in 1841 after the city of St Albans in England. The Settlers Arms Inn is located at the town centre, along side the Macdonald River and just across the road from the St Albans Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade station and the local park. There is a great cycle loop from Wisemans Ferry up the valley to St Albans which includes two ferry crossings, a couple of historic pubs and some lovely rural scenery along the way. Follow this link to find out more about the beautiful township of St Albans www.discoverthehawkesbury.com.au/hawkesbury-towns/st-albans

05.01.2022 Come out to Australiana Pioneer Village on Australia Day, next Sunday the 26th, leave the 21st century behind and travel back to an era before computers, televi...sion and air conditioners. An era when your bread was freshly baked at home, your milk came straight from the cow in the paddock and conversations were only possible face-to-face. Hay rides and train rides for little kids and big kids (their parents) and steak or sausage sandwiches fresh from the Windsor Rotary BBQ. We willl also have a wide selection of cold drinks. APV is located at Wilberforce, approx 5 minutes from Windsor and around 1 hour from Sydney. The kids will have a ball and the history within the Village is interesting and educational. See more

05.01.2022 Narelle Vance Perry, who will be taking over Hawkesbury Valley Heritage Tours in the near future, conducted our first tours yesterday since COVID-19 restrictions began to lift! We did two walking tours of Windsor for a wonderful group from West Pennant Hills Probus and after the tours we recommended the group visit the Hawkesbury Museum. We were thrilled when one of the group, Gordon Johnstone, found a photograph of himself in the RAAF display. Thank you Rebecca and Lisa for welcoming the group so warmly and showing them through the museum and well done Narelle on delivering such knowledgeable and successful tours.

04.01.2022 What a difference a day makes. Windsor is looking refreshed and magical after the recent rain. The river is still quite high and the Windsor Bridge is still closed. Come and have a look at the river, it hasn’t been this high since the early 1990’s.

03.01.2022 Hawkesbury Jacaranda Trail - look at this beauty! Warm, spring days and cool nights bring out a magnificent colour explosion in the Hawkesbury. November is... jacaranda time and these beautiful trees are in full bloom and there is no better time to get outdoors to enjoy them or take that perfect Instagram shot. Many people think the jacaranda tree is native to Australia but they were originally from Brazil. They usually flower for about four weeks starting mid to late October but warm winters can mean an earlier peak. The Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre gets a regular stream of enquiries from jacaranda ‘spotters’ about the best places to see these trees in bloom. To help people find some of the best on display the Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre team has pulled together a list of favourite locations. One spot that is extremely popular is Governor Phillip Park in Windsor. Take a stroll along the river pathway for a purple, floral treat. Locations on the trail can be found by picking up a free factsheet and map available from the Visitor Information Centre at 328 Hawkesbury Valley Way, Richmond or online at www.discoverthehawkesbury.com.au For more information, contact the Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre via email on [email protected] or call our friendly tourism staff on 02 4560 4620.

01.01.2022 We will be open on Saturday 11th January for picking Plums and Sunflowers. We also have berries to buy (Not pick your own). Open from 9am until sold out, unfortunately, we are still suffering terrible fruit losses from bats and birds.
