20.01.2022 Please send a big thank you to Khaiah Thomson. Both my daughter and me LOVE her book Welcome to Blackwood. Zoe is entering grade 10 next year and here we are camping and chatting about Freya and Beau and whose life forces we’d like to draw into ourselves. Much lovelier times with my teenage daughter than I’d been so warned to expect Tanya. #welcometoblackwood #kthomson_author #loveozya #fantasybooks #epicfantasy #bestbooksfor2020

14.01.2022 Last night I dreamt I had been shot in the shoulder by Ned Kelly. When I woke it took me ages to settle and not feel aggrieved; to realise my shoulder, and neck, had seized-up as a consequence of reading most of Nicole Kelly’s captivating novel, Lament, in a single session during the night. Emails like this are why we do what we do. Read Peter Long's full email to us here - https://hawkeyebooks.com.au/wonderful-new-australian-ficti/

11.01.2022 Earlier this week, a man walked into the shop and when asked if he needed help finding anything, he said, no, hed only walked in because hed noticed that the ...people coming in were all walking out with a smile on their face and that made him want to come in too. I didnt cry after he said that because I am a grown woman (ok, I cried a little after when no one was there ) but it really was a moving thing to hear after a difficult week. To everyone who made the effort to come in this week to buy or order books, commiserate about our bank drama, shared our Facebook post and encouraged their friends and family to come in too - and there were so many of you!!! - THANK YOU. I cant tell you how heartening it feels to know there is a whole community of people who have our back. We are open our usual hours this weekend - Saturday 9am-3pm & Sunday 9am-1pm. Hope to see your lovely faces in the shop.
