24.01.2022 From today, Tuesday 1st December every person over the age of 12 is required to wear a disposable, surgical mask while in our waiting areas. QR codes are posted around the clinic for contact tracing purposes. As we are limiting the number of people inside the clinic, we advise that it is best to call the clinic for payment of accounts, or to arrange collection of prescriptions. We apologise for any inconvenience, and thank our patients for their continued understanding.

18.01.2022 South Australian Shutdown. Hawkins Medical Clinic will remain open for our usual opening hours for our patients during the 6 day state-wide shutdown. We will require that patients entering the clinic keep their mask in place for the duration of their visit. Telephone/telehealth consultations remain a viable option for consultation with your doctor.

14.01.2022 We wish to notify our patients that the SA Health direction for the use of masks in healthcare settings was changed over the weekend. 07.01.2022 Medicare has extended telehealth item numbers for a further six months, until March 2021, which means that we are able to continue to offer these appointments to our patients. The government has ceased to pay the emergency COVID Telehealth payments, and has encouraged practices to return to their normal billing practices for these appointments. For most patients this means that there will be a gap to pay for a telephone consultation with your doctor. Please see our website for our billing policy. The morning and evening telephone script clinics will still be bulk-billed for patients who have seen a doctor at the clinic face to face in the past 12 months.

07.01.2022 From Monday the 31st August we advise our patients that we cannot continue to provide a walk in paediatric clinic each day due to COVID-19. Parents of young children are encouraged to call the clinic on 8725 5266 to make an appointment by telephone for their child where COVID risks can be assessed prior to attending the clinic. We apologise for any inconvenience and hope to resume this service as soon as conditions allow.

06.01.2022 Dr Mike Bruorton’s skin check clinics have continued weekly throughout COVID at our Pinehall Avenue Branch. Winter is a good time to have your annual skin check before the sunshine returns. Give us a call to book your 2020 skin check.

05.01.2022 On the last Friday of every month, Hawkins Clinic admin staff swap their uniforms for casual attire at the cost of a gold coin (or any silver at hand) which is saved up to go to a local charitable donation at the end of the year. In 2020 we raised $297.30 which was happily used to buy gifts to place under Kmart’s Wishing Tree. Three of Santa’s helpful elves filled the Wishing Tree boxes with many different toys for a variety of ages, including books, puzzles, games, soft toys, Lego, bouncing balls, cars, dinosaurs and trains to name a few. Good job! And many thanks to all who donated!

04.01.2022 From today, masks will no longer be mandatory for: people present in health care settings (this includes staff and visitors at residential aged care facilitie...s) people working in personal care services (hairdressers, beauty salons, tattoo parlours and similar businesses). Face masks are an additional physical barrier and help to stop the spread of COVID-19. At this time in South Australia it is not mandatory for the general community, but it is recommended to wear a mask when out in public if you are unable to physically distance from others. Learn more about face masks: www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVIDmasks

03.01.2022 From Monday 23rd November we will still be screening patients for symptoms and travel risk. Telehealth, and telephone appointments are available, and a good option for consulting your doctor. Patients with symptoms are asked to remain in their car and call the clinic so that an alternative to face to face appointments can be arranged.
