18.01.2022 Tuesday 8 December 1.30pm at rear of 360 Burwood Rd Hawthorn. a free talk by Priscilla Manthey in the rehearsal space HAS studio, Change is the only constant. As we emerge from lockdown the churn of culture, theory and popularism is again all around us. Priscilla Manthey presents her ideas about the future of part-time artists. Working with Sadlers Wells, Cologne Opera Ballet and the Slade School along the way, Priscilla has a fascinating background in classical dance, theatre design, printmaking and painting. This overview of work portrays people’s individuality and character, in charcoal, ink, pastel, watercolour and oil, on paper and canvas. 14.01.2022 Come to SHOW & TELL Wednesday 9 December in our Hawthorn studio 7-9pm. Hear from three artists talking about their art and art practice. Ann Soo made drawing and painting a daily practice during lockdown. For me, the art process is about quietening the mind and creating space to privilege the unique nature of one’s eye and hand. Every opportunity to draw is different and full of possibility.

Tony Ericson spends his Monday evenings at life drawing here at HAS. He draws with charcoal and paints in acrylic. With a full-length nude figure in front of him, a portrait is very often the work made. I don't know how the models feel about it - the subtlety in their faces just fascinates me.
