23.01.2022 In 2019 the City of Boroondara launched the children’s publication 'Annie’s War' by Lucy Bracey, illustrated by Gregory Mackay. It tells the story of a Boroondara family’s 1916 wartime experience and is based on real life letters exchanged between young Annie Slade and her father, Edward Slade. The book aims to give readers (especially younger readers) a deeper understanding of the lasting impact war has on the community. 'Annie’s War' was recently awarded the Victorian Comm...unity History Award Historical Interpretation Award, which recognises the most outstanding local history project presented in a unique format. 'Annie’s War' is available to borrow, download, or listen to via the Boroondara Library Service. Boroondara Arts has produced an activity resource pack to compliment 'Annie’s War', aimed at Grades 3 to 6.
